Ron, just got a set of small smith ones. I have tried plenty of types and these are the ones I like for the PE2/3 size split rings. Not too exy either, around $50.

Had my set for around 3 years and comes out with me every trip, you just need to make sure you INOX them every couple of trips
When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:
n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or
n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

Yes agree with small split rings
But the Black magic ones have a great braid cutter, and cant go passed them. Have 2 pairs on the boat but treasure them. Not for removing hooks etc. Just to nice to do the rough as guts works. If you need a designated little split ring then get a smaller one like smiths.
