Light/medium lures and plastics

Just wondering what peoples go to lures are for general fishing mixed bag stuff? I'll throw a couple out there, sorry admin not sure if brand names are allowed. 4"zman streakz in new penny and the 4" McCarthys paddletail in white pearl. Pinky's, dhues, blackass herring, tuna, skippey etc love them... any advice on spangos/trout on artificials? These vibes seem to be getting plenty of attention but at $20 a pop it seems a bit steep! You could get a pack of plastics and jigheads for the same price. Cheers!

Zman 5" Streakz / Jerk Shadz
5/0 hook - ranging weights from 1/8 to 3oz - lethal, cheap and invincible - catches everything from herring and tailor, pinks, trevally, tuna, spangos, mackies etc. - even caught bills on them. - Pearl white is most versatile imo
Fairly toothproof and economical for northern areas
For spangos - Plastics are cheap and efficient - but stickbaits are more fun and less bycatch. Trout are the same, but obviously plastics for deeper areas. Move them faster and midwater for spangos - less small chinaman cod . Trout - Upsize plastics to 7 or even 9" - they have big mouths!

Vibes
Coral trout love vibes. Thats all we used up at Mackie Islands for them.
Hit up Euge from Mackdog he has been experimenting with different vibes, his smaller ones that we were using at Mackies are only like $8 but he just got some large ones in, managed to scab a couple off him and hopefully come September Im going to give them a try on Dhuies. Not sure if he is selling them or not yet or just doing tests with them before he sells them. But yeah vibes for coral trout in the coral trout colour are dynamite.
Cheers

I second the Mackdog vibes.
I second the Mackdog vibes. Used themn at the Mackerel Islands and they caught just about everything! Very easy to use too.
I haven't used Big John's jigs but they look bloody good and I have no doubt they would also work very well.

Snapper jigs good
Was out on Rankin Bank and used those slow jigs with the curly rubber tails in 15-20m. They were originally promoted for snapper fishing, like the current Baku Baku models from Shimano, but Trout loved them. I think anything like that, even the cheapest models, would work up north. Just have to make sure the hooks on them are OK strength.
