Hi guys ...headed out from PP for the first time yesterday , not too far off the nav marker in open water we unintentionally went straight over the top of a perfectly round flat spot maybe 3-4m dia looked as though it was churning up sand...haven't come across them before , just wondering what are they ???

Could have been a washed out
Could have been a washed out patch of seagrass. Every year the seagrass changes markedly, and a stripped patch up seagrass can develop into a big washout very quickly due to the laminar forces of water running across the seagrass (i.e swell) becoming turbulent as its pulled down onto sand. Hope u managed a few fish!

that makes sense...it was as if the sand was boiling to the top just a little nerve racking as we didn't see it coming ...usually head out from woodies but thought we'd take the road trip to point peron this time ...gets fairly swelly near the coathanger as well I noticed , got into a few good size sandies , herring and few small flatties returned...thanks for your response

Could very likley be effluent
Could very likley be effluent discharge around that area.
I know there is a very large effluent discharge site a couple of km NW from Pt Peron, but from memory this one is in about 20m. There may however, also be smaller ones.
