Yardie Creek Crossing

Has anyone attempted this crossing?
Ill be in Exmouth over the first few days in August, at which times the tidal coefficient is quite small, which I think means the low tide wont be all that low (Low tide of 1.00m on the 2nd).
Would love to attempt the drive from yardie creek to coral bay but not willing to take much risk as Ill be in my stock petrol Pajero with no other cars to assist.
Will have a few visitors from Canada along who don't have the passion for fishing we do. Im thinking a trip to see manta rays would be good, any other advice for non fishing activities around Exmouth/Coral bay.
Cheers for the advice,
Adam

Yes ,have done this,although
Yes ,have done this, although it was a few years ago.Did it the same way as you intend to go.ie Exmouth to Coral Bay
It was a dry crossing for us,and it was just like driving on a normal 4wd rutted beach sand track. But you won't really know what your crossing will be like until you get there,as it can change.Just park up the top and have a walk down to check it out first.
Then the sand track to Coral Bay is easy-depending on the use,you won't even need 4wd,but will be corrugated.

Yes. Many times. When
Yes. Many times. When camping at Ningaloo station we used to do a day trip to exmouth half way through our trip for water, fuel beer etc and would go acros the creek on a low tide either in the morning on the way there or the arvo on the way back and then go the road the other way. Just walk across it first If there is no one else crossing while your there. Otherwise you could drive from ex mouth to Ningaloo station track and then drive behinds the dunes to coral bay

Fillings checked
Get your fillings checked before you head off because they will feel loose by the time you get to Rip Off Bay.
The track down the coast is usually corrugated and well know to make mirrors and spotlights fall to bits

Creek Crossing
As others have said above really - the creek mouth was sealed for my mate and i last year (he had a old rodeo) so 2 wheel drive and away you go (that would have been around this time). I didnt even realise the mouth sometimes closed so it was a surprise to us. However your best option is just phone the ranger station and they would be happy to walk you through it. you could get the number off the web or Im sure a local would forward it on.
Funnily enough Im hoping to go up in late July and we will be doing the same thing driving down Yardie creek road from exxy through to Coral bay. Like others say - there alternatives if necessary - though far less scenic and less fishy.
