Tough Choices

Hi Guys
2 days ago i asked for you opinion regarding quobba fishing over summer and i got 2 pretty conclusive view points. 1 was to go i may-august, the other was november. Ive got a chalet on hold for end of july that i booked today, i was just wondering if people had gone this late into the 'ballooning' season. the trip is for for my mate as a bucks trip and i'd like to give him the best odd's of catching some decent fish as unfortunately our last trip (sept 2012) was a complete flop. Im just looking at people opinions of our booking compared to possibly changing it to november. I'd love to hear from anyone that has been during any of these times.
Cheers
Ash

Maybe look at this way,
Maybe look at this way, surfers go there in the winter months for the larger swells and offshore winds, windsurfers go there in summer months cos it blows its ring out s-sw'ly. I'd be sticking with your July booking. For the fishing up there depends on the water clarity in my experience, if its green and murky then its pretty slow, if its clear and blue then it goes off!

I'd stick with July mate.
I'd stick with July mate. You can get some good Morning South Easterlys at that time of year. Whenever we go up it's a gamble but you try to lessen the odds by going at a certain time of year. November is too late in my opinion but who knows you could score good conditions.
Love the West!

July
Im heading up this sunday Ash, and heading back for a session in July for around 5 days then up to exmouth, should be good ballooning in July, next week is looking a bit hairy but you can never trust wind forecasts a week in advance.
Flick us the dates your up there might be up there same time, grab a beer.

Ive ballooned halfway
Ive ballooned halfway through august with good easterlies before but that was very lucky haha. depends if you want to balloon or spin mainly - I love noveember, the place seems alive. winter the fish mayh not be as plentiful but from my experience, the fish are larger.

SE /SW winds
The "SUMMER" pattern of winds ie, SE turning SW each afternoon start around August = September, hopefully that will allow you to balloon in the mornings and spin or bottom fish when the breeze comes in later in the day

I was there last November for
I was there last November for a week. Swell was pretty big and wind was a constant SW at around 20 knots the whole time. Got one decent days fishing in. What made it worse was we could see thousands of big Tuna smashing bait schools and birds working everywhere, but just couldnt reach them. Got unlucky I guess. We still made it a fun trip though.

Stick to middle of the year
Stick to middle of the year mate... But make sure you bring a long pole gaff or rope gaff as trying to find a place to fish will be near impossisble with all the grey nomads and other fishers up here!!! You will need to get up at 3-4am each day to 'maybe' get to a spot to fish before the rest of the hordes turn up.
