14 th August rally
There is a rally organised for August 14 at the steps of Parliment house to protest the new Firarms Act which has become an unworkable shambles, forced upon law abiding every day West Aussies who have complied in every way. They have been treated like criminals and had their property forcibly taken from them with no or little compensation and in some cases had their firearms seized for minor offences with spent convictions over 14 years ago with no right of appeal.
More than that though, it is an opportunity for all people who enjoy the outdoor life style in WA, to send a message that we have had enough of this governments over reach and over regulation. It is open to farmers/keep the sheep, 4wders, fishers, truckers, hikers, prospectors ect and all others as this arrogant governments over reach effects all of us.
If you value your oudoor way of life , even more now with another 30% of National Parks quietly being proposed to be locked out to the public, I would urge everyone to attend and spread the word.
They wont stop with just getting rid of evryones firearms. Lockouts and bans will only increase unless we stand up.

who is organising this rally
who is organising this rally Gav?
I bet not SSAA, and again they'll probably work to try and stop it.
The sad problem with this all, is that the most affected people don't live in the city, and hence the large majority are simply too far away to attend.
FUBAR unfortunately is the term for this situation as hunters, fishers and 4WDers
Give a man a mask, and he'll show you his true face...
The older you get the more you realize that no one has a f++king clue what they're doing.
Everyone's just winging it.

Correct Rob
No support from SSAA. In fact the opposite as you suggest.
SSAA receive funding from the WA Government so they are hardly going to cut off the money tree. No different to Recfishwest, government puppets.

Papalia needs to spend more
Papalia needs to spend more time on E bike laws as it seems they are worse than guns for killing people.....

Far bigger issue in the
Far bigger issue in the community. Scooters are bad but e-bikes are so much worse these days with the speeds they can do. Even worse in the hands of young people who don't have a clue what the road rules are.

14th August Rally
Gav475 it would help the cause if you were to provide more details, what time? I've googled the event and I haven't been able to find anything there.
The organizers' need to have an audience. Perhaps it's on FB, I don't do that.
Sadly, I don't see a good outcome. With the majority the LP has it can just do what it fkn likes.

Time
The rally is set for August 14, 11am to 1 pm at the steps of parliament house. It is the day the independent Mp is tabling a disallowance motion hence the timing. Ads are being placed in print media also. If you look at YouTube, mark and Sam after work he has alot more info. Its really about all the issues facing outdoor activities, not just firearms.

Update
The Motions for Disallowance debated in the Legislative Council this afternoon was defeated 19 votes to 17.
I thought there was a good turn out at the rally earlier in the day. Lots of grey beards in attendance.
Sadly with the introduction of the new licensing requirements it is unlikely I will be able to re-license the two firearms I have lawfully owned for almost 40 years. This is not about keeping the public safe as the government would have you think. In this case it was a disarming the population exercise and introducing controlling measures that erode individual's rights.

ATTENDACE
It was a good show of support but could have been much bigger. Yes, 19 left wing loonies decided an outcome that effects over 90000 law abiding people who, for the most part, as in your case, will be forced to surrender their legally owned and purchsed property that they have had for years, or face criminal charges. What most dont seem to understand is the same 19 left wing loonies will be deciding fishing rights, camping access, beach access ect ect.
I dont know what it takes to make people realise what is happening, but when I see comments on here like, Far bigger issues in the community like e scooters, I just shake my head in disbelief.
Really sad for you that you have to surrender your firearms. I had to hand in 2 that my dad left me when he died to stay under the 5 limit.
