G'day fellow fishos. Getting a rare chance to do some fishing..... Woohoo Staying. In shoal water near rocking ham???? 6 days to get my line wet. Any suggestions where to fish the area and what bait / tackle to use would be awesome to help my chances. Also it will be my 3 year old sons first chance at either beach or jetty fishing ( he has fished a creek once and got some black bream) photos to come

A mate of mine has been cleaning up on yellowfin whiting early in the mornings out at that point in the pic I've provided. That's the bent st boat ramp on the right hand side. Just around the corner from shoalwater.

Seen as beau and myself live
Seen as beau and myself live down in that area we can try and give you some advice:
First up,six days will most likely put you down here around Easter time,so where ever you go with your three year old(ie jetty's in the Rockingham area) they are going to be very busy and good luck getting a reasonable spot on the jetties.
Palm Beach jetty would most likely be the most "child friendly" jetty with it's lower jetty structure.
Kwinana Beach jetty is closed and has not been repaired from the storms over the winter period.
Val Street jetty is okay, but too many kids are swimming/bombies off it,while you are trying to catch some fish.
As for beach fishing, pick the wind direction,(ie eastly wind or seabreeze) and fish either the Safety Bay side or drive around to the Mangles Bay/Rockingham Beach side, you should get some whiting or herring off the beach if you berly up.

shoalwater
fishing with your son try early mornings or late arvos along the beach in shoalwater! you can target herring and gardies using a float with the burly hole in the centre and a small hook size six or eight! or you can use a standard paternoster rig for whiting flounder and flat head! the sand bar across to penguin island is very good for flat head but watch the cross currents! if you travel further south down to warnbro beach late arvos can bring all those fish plus tailor! for the tailor i like to use a small gang and bluebait! when fishing dont go for the furthest cast away from the beach you will be surprised how close the fish are to the shore! point peron is great for herring at the moment just watch the swells and it is a rocky area so not the best place for the young fella! if you can get out to pengin island there is great fishing all around the island! plus you can show the boy the penguins! long point boat ramp is also good for all the fish mentioned above plus a few squid! if all else fails take him to the bent street boat ramp he will have a ball with the trumpeters!! good luck

I can answer your 2wheel
I can answer your 2wheel drive question:
No vehicle's are allowed to drive on any of the beaches in the Rockingham area.
Just park your vehicle at any of the Foreshore carparks, and walk down(note- don't leave any valuables in your vehicle, easy pickings unfortunately, especially the carpark out at Point Peron)
Enjoy.
