 Just a RCS handle without

Just a RCS handle without the reel will cost you more than $100 so might need to adjust your budget or adjust your need for the dual handle. Can definitely get a nice reel second hand for $100 with a single handle

3000 Size will be fine since

3000 Size will be fine since it's the 2500 body with a larger spool. Plenty of other options around, I'd be interested in looking at the 13 Fishing Creed GT which is $130 from Motackle at the moment.

Do you really require the double handle?

well to be honest i dont know if i require it, my mate has a egi combo and has a double handle and says its the best thing for it because it's easier to grab and balances the combo

Why so big for squid?

i used my bream 1000-sized reels and rods for squid with good success

that way you can get setup very cheaply.

for example, last night I was at anaconda in Joondalup and they had some nice 1000 shimano reels (sienna I think)  for $50!!

If you're running 10lb you

If you're running 10lb you won't get much line on a 1000 and most egi rods balance better with a 2500. Big kraken squid and big cuttlefish plus pulling your jig off the seaweed a fair bit will put a fair bit of strain on a 1000. Lot of guys use their egi combos for flicking at tailor too.

All that said though I'll usually have my bream combo rigged up for tip running on the drift while I work my egi combo.

Look around mate and see if you can get a 2500 Shimano Symetre cheap. I was running that before I upgraded to a Stradic Ci4.

I use the stradic and the missus has a symetre (and my boy).

My wifes symetre has been going great guns for over 8 years now. I rate them. certainly not bad for the price. Good for squid, herring, whiting etc.
