Jigging gloves?

To all those hardcore jiggers out there.

Had a quick search and couldnt find anything but was just wondering on the purpose of jigging gloves? Are they worth shelling out for or is it more of a wank factor. Just wondering coz I have never had any problems with holding onto my rod (so to speak) and I hate wearing gloves.

Any opinions? Thanks in advance.

Protects fingers from the braid ?! Friction from continuos holding n winding the reel knob?

I use mine to exert extra drag to a rampaging fish by grasping the spool when needed instead of marking around with the drag knob when line Is peeling from the reel under tension. Spool can become too hot to hold down after some time.

I've sliced a finger down to the nail thumbing the spool on an overhead (finger moved too far forward). Usually wear gloves now.

When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:

n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or

n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

Heh yes that pretty much sums it up. But if you have money to burn go for it. I find theres many saftey work gloves that are exactly the same for a third of the price.

look, I hate wearing them as well, but I go to work following day, and everyone would know that I was fishing (can't lie anymore with sick leaves!!).
I'd say worth it, but be careful of bursting your line when under tension, and touching it with your glove, especially those owner ones.

Hesh, u weren't wearing a jigging glove from memory. Besides, I think  the braided line must have been from a bad batch.

No mate, I was wearing those 3 finger gloves, and you were the one who noticed it!! Baaaad memory boy! The second time (you're not with me), I had the same thing.

Anyhow .... I'd rather have a finger cut, than losing the fish
