got my brand new boat on Thursday (cost 38K) last week , gps echo sounder has a volt drop problem I specifically ordered this boat with a tilt down console so I could get it in my boat port, first time I tilt the console down (today) all the wiring rips out from the distribution board , shoddy shoddy work I say not happy if they don't sort it out I will have to explain what social media can do to a company like them and then name the supplier , I am a retired elect intsro tech and don't think I should have to sort this out myself( I could but why should I have to) but I do know I would have done a better job than them setting up the boat

Yep Pete shithouse! I run my own business and if I put crap out like I wouldn't last long. They should fix that quick smart, but it shouldn't have happened at all.

That would just piss me off too..
Hope they get it sorted for you, but I am also of the opinion that you get it right if you do it yourself...

poor work
It seems no matter what it is these days nobody seems to take any pride in thier work and you cannot rely on anybody to do anything right. Sometimes it is just easier to get someone else to do the job but when it is in your field of work then you can realise just how shit their work really is.

Hey Pete I reckon your going
Hey Pete I reckon your going about it the right way before you name & shame. Give them every chance to make it right before you get to that stage. Although it seems unexcusable there could be a reason that at the moment doesn't seem apparent i.e. (apprentice did a shit job and boss will be horrified when he finds out - hey just one of many possibilties) No point potentailly wrecking a blokes reputation & a families livelihood, not to mention his other employees, until he's had every chance to make good on a bad situation. All the best - hope it all works out for you.

Agree to a point Duges. But
Agree to a point Duges. But the boss/owner should be ensuring all work going out the door is completed correctly and to a good standard. But yeah give them the right of reply first. Wouldn't like to see any business go down be of a lack of communication or a mis-understanding.

Agree with sea-kem,
Agree with sea-kem, apprentice should be working under the supervision of a qualified tradesman anyway. Had a horrible experience with my last purchase best part of a 100K spent on a very well made boat neatly finished in the factory by a family owned company with high build standards. The shine taken off it by butchers in Mandurah who made a absolute mess of the final install of the motor and wiring the whole thing was lucky not to have burnt to the ground. Sent email after email so it was all in writting and got absolutely no where with it, could have gone to small claims over it but at the time with work it was all too hard so ended up paying out of my own pocket and doing it properly myself. I am a electronics tech by trade so it was parts only but still cost a couple hundred in parts. Manufacturer pulled all their boats from them shortly after that so some justice served in the end

Agree also - let's not get
Agree also - let's not get hung up on the apprentice scenario that was just a hypothetical. The main point is & absolutely the right thing to do, again sea-kem hits the nail on the proverbial, is give the bloke a right of reply before he's strung up.
I was agreeing with petermac in that I think he's done the righty by not naming & shaming straight off the bat. If you look further up the thread there was one suggestion to hang him before the trial.

boat is being looked at
dropped the boat of this morning it is still there when I dropped it of I was asked to explain the problem to their "technician" so I did and also told him the sounder problem looks looks like a volt drop problem the wiring harness problem is obvious he gave me the "what would you know look" I didn't tell him I was a elect instrument tech that had worked up in the north west for a major resource company in the marine department on their tugs, line boats and nav aids the last 35 years still haven't got the boat back yet but thinking to tell them to change the humingbird out for a lowerance as I have more faith in them more user friendly

Should have ghostied the boat and trailer through the front of the shop.*
Just my opinion.
