Geraldton weather

A question for those that have fished out of Geraldton or live there and fish, I 'm possibly tagging along on an Abrohlas trip this weekend and have been keeping an eye on the weather and have noticed that the swell is hanging around {winds tend to be variable }
So my question does the swell play an important part fishing out of there ie travel to and from the islands { I presume the islands would shelter once closer} . I know there are reef breaks further to the north of the town but what about leaving the town ramp { havent looked at the gps yet }.???
Cheers fishfish

If wind is light swell wont
If wind is light swell wont worry you at all, in fact makes it easier tosee reef areas. Stick to shipping channel (not Hells Gate).
Marina ramps etc are great (and free as they should be!)
dont make decision til wednesday at least. I came home in May with 25knot sthly and 2 meter swell with my 7&8 yr old kids in our Trailcraft with no probs, just some spray.
if you are going to use the bity holes as your anchorage have a good look on google earth to see the layout as charts are vague.
Best anchorage close to the outside by far. If your with Paul he will be able to show you it.
if we werent heading north id be going out there as well!

there are so many but maybe
there are so many but maybe the best bet is ring Duck in the Geraldton Fishermans Coop radio room, he has Buoyweather Pro there and can give you a heads up.
For me though other than the coop, BOM is about as good as it gets. Pretty much all the various websites data comes from the same source.
