Fishing Mandurah
Submitted by randall df223 on Mon, 2012-10-22 21:08
Have booked to camp at Mandurah this weekend, just for couple of nights and will have the opportunity to head out early saturday for a quick fish, before the family requires my undevoted attention....
would anyone like to point me in the direction of some KGW, or alternatively some catch and release fun on the sambos? Will I find either on or around James Service Reef or on the first bit of ground outside the cut (about 1.5 - 2 nm out)?

Five Fathom Bank
G'day Randall,
Try Heading out to the Five Fathom bank. We did well out there last month with a couple sambos landed weighing upwards of 15kg. Just make sure you take out plenty of mulies to draw them in.
Good luck!

when you say ffb, i always
when you say ffb, i always think of the out from garden is, but that reef actually continues south, outside the murrey's where james service is, past mandurah and joins up with the patch of ground i was referring to about 1.5 - 2 nm west of the cut. so when you say ffb are you talking head north west out of the river mouth or west out of the cut, or it doesn't really matter... they're out there and a good bit of burley will bring them around..

Yep that reef contiues south
Yep that reef contiues south as you have mentioned. We usually head out from mouth in mandurah, go around the marker on the point of Halls Head and then its a clear run out. If your staying in Dawesville you can try jumping on the tail end of the reef but I'm not much help as I havent fished much down that way. I'm sure it will be much the same tho!
Hope you have a great stay!
