Pinks Galore
Submitted by The Saint on Tue, 2025-10-07 14:51
Managed to get out a couple of times last week.
Took the missus out on Tuesday, then headed out again on Thursday with my grandson and his dad in their boat.
Could NOT get away from those rare and critically endangered pink snapper on both days.
Tuesday we bagged out by 8:30, then caught and released anther 2 while cleaning the boat up, biggest went 86cm.
Thursday was much the same but took a little longer - 10:30, biggest going 87cm.
Released another that hit a bottom meat 20-30 metres from the bottom as I was winding in to pack up.
Such a shame they are almost extinct ........

And you are just confirming what we who regularly fish metro waters are saying......they are in plague proportions and larger than ever

Spot on Gordon, have fished
Spot on Gordon, have fished out of Rocko for near on 40 years and we never saw pinks this size in years past.
Always caught pinkies, but mostly undersized until fairly recently.

Certainly some good size
Certainly some good size pinks there. At least you weren't plagued by the underside ones.

Magnificent
Lovely fish. I've been catching similar inshore in 10m, so they seem abundant and widespread at the moment. How can this be?

Last week we were catching
Last week we were catching triple headers on whiting rigs in 14m off Scarbs! the school would follow up the caught ones like sambos and there were hundreds.
Unfortunately though I had to shoot a couple of dolphins
as they were attacking the schools of pinkies and obviosuly the pinkies now being in short supply I had to so something to protect them
I am sure fisheries will understand as I just couldn't sit by and let that happen. Ultimately just doing their job for them.

Great fish for Local Saint
"Pun intended below"
Shame your report supports the research that the Snapper are critical or endangered.
God forbid it took a couple of hours longer on a slow day to catch again must have fished em out on the good day...
How terrrible was it to have to be out on a boat enjoying your recreational time with family or friends and catch a feed. Perhaps when the science is supported in what a large number are reporting we might actually believe what they are trying to shove down our throats...
Once again great catch and keep sharing
