D'Entrecasteaux National Park
Submitted by fuzzy79 on Fri, 2013-11-22 19:46
I am thinking about heading down to D'Entrecasteaux NP for a few days next week. Does anybody have any hot tips on places I should try fishing (land based)? Are the main target tailor and salmon? Any suggestions on the best spot to camp - I was thinking of Moores Hut as my wife would appreciate toilets...
Finally, I know you're not supposed to use quad bikes in a national park, but is that policed in the area? Any people have stories of whether or not rangers are actually out policing this.
Thanks

Hi Mate, Great NP for
Hi Mate,
Great NP for camping, just make sure you have your NP permit. As for camping spots I'm a huge fan of Black point, but have camped through a lot of the NP. You will get tailor and if your luck maybe a stray salmon. Heaps of sand whiting around this time of year. If you find some nice gutters there's always some good sized flattys hanging around and at night maybe a mullaway and sharks. obvious precautions of rock fishing and king waves, they really do pop up out of nowhere down there.
Anyway check out the link for more info.

If you get further around
If you get further around towards walpole there is a great little camp in at a place called Banksia Camp. Really good camps sites a nice shed/shelter that can be used for cooking and stuff if the weather turns bad. Turn off is near crstal springs and takes you in past Mandalay beach. Some good 4wding to get there and if you keep going past it you will get out to broke inlet wich is alo a good place to visit.
