Sand whiting legal size?
Submitted by seadoggystyle on Sat, 2013-11-23 18:01
Hey, could someone please advise me on the min legal size for sand whiting? I caught about a dozen today all about 25cm, but thinking they were King george I let them go. Now I know they were sand whiting because they didn't have the dots and but cannot find legal size for sand whiting or bag limit. So now P@# off, oh well more fish for someone else I guess.....
Cheers,

I am, as I've said, merely competent. But in an age of incompetence, that makes me extraordinary.

As Matt says
As Matt says = ( 30 is a mixed bag of bread and butter species ie. Herring, Gardies and Sandies ) This is an individual bag limit. Hardly a grey area .
chookc , there is no boat limit . i;e 4 people on board all with a licence = 120 mixed bag of bread and butter species .
There is no size limit on bread and butter species.
As ive said before on other threads, take a copy of the regulations with you fishing, there are some areas in the rules that don't make sense , but most of it is realy not that hard to understand.

Ok, thanks for the tip on the bag limit. Probably would only take 10 or 15 or so anyway, that would be heaps for me and the family.

Don't feel bad about taking
Don't feel bad about taking the bag limit in Sand Whiting. They are prolific breaders and are relatively short lived. One of the most sustainable fish to catch.
Fillets freeze well and are great dusted in flour and pan fried on toast for lunch.
