Best rod and reel combo for bottom bouncing

Hi guys,

Just starting to get back into fishing and am wanting to upgrade my gear. I am chasing a rod and reel combo to chase snapper, Dhui's small sambo's and anything else that may be sniffing around. probably want to spend around the $400 range.

any info would be awesome

Grab a t curve mate not much beats them bolt a 14000 Saragossa  to her loded with some 50 lb will scull drag anything

Or grab a live fibre from Wilson  over head put a shimano tld 15 or twenty lode with some 30 lb have a bit of fun

A 6000 or 8000 size shimano should suffice I'd imagine. I use 4000 for my snapper fishing but I fish shallow, les than 15m...

definitely a bit over the top mate.

As beau said, go with something like an 6000 Stradic, matched to something like a Monster Mesh pe 3/4 or demon blood pe 3/4 (if the budget allows). Spool with with something like 30lb High seas Grandslam braid, and you will be very happy!

If you're smart about it ,

If you're smart about it , you could get a jigging rod with a lever drag overhead that'd bottom bash no probs and troll too.

If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.

If you just want to upgrade

If you just want to upgrade but dont want to spend heaps of money.. Id go either a stradic 6000 or next size up.(saragossa if u can afford it).. or a saltist 4500 matched with a fin-nor offshore 30Lb or 50Lb rod...

These rods are under-rated.. extremely light.. you can pull up big sambos with them... or they are light enough to go whiting fishing with!!!  Extremely versatile.... Ive used many types of rods, but for the money.. these are fantastic..  I own 30Lb.. 50Lb.. 80Lb and the 100Lb....  If I ever lost 1.. I would replace it with the same...

Keep in mind this is only my personal opinion...  I like to use what works for me.. Im not the type of bloke that says... shimano mate.. all others are crap...  because theyre not.. (unless jarvis walker)  lol

Go into a shop... have a feel of a demon blood, T-curve and the fin-nor offshore and go with whatever feels right for you mate!!
