you cant actually catch any more per person than before they took the crays away from us a few years back but you can have a third person onboard who can catch his crays!! saves on fuel and makes pulling your pots a little easier for the guys who dont have winchs!

obviously not. im happy for
obviously not. im happy for the limit to be lifted to 24...
you think about all the crays you catch in a year, and all the crays you know of that are caught by others, and then think about how many rec divers catch crays in a year in WA.
that is barely 1% of the total catch of rock lobster for the year.....and crayfishermen are complaining.....give me a break!
the same probly applies for commercial fishing aswel....our limits continue to come under scrutiny in that area too
back to the original subject, im glad the allowed limit is goin up..bout time we catch our share

they actually never did or give anything...
They just lowered the commecial quoter and upped the rec catch.
These uni kids are just playing games with us.
I remember Burke said commercials will get $60 a kilo for crays with there new system. We barely see $31.
Its ok though. His wage only goes up every year. : )

They aren't giving us more
They aren't giving us more quota.
They realised that we didn't take our allocated 5% quota with the 6 bag, 55mm gap etc and changed the regs to suit.

55mm down to 53mm hmmmm
now do you weld the escape hatch then grind the gap to 54mm or do you peen the edges of the gap to make it 54mm (again)

8 crays are
better than 6. Especially when you see the pro's go out with their extended season and bring in 3 to 6 crates, saw them about 3 weeks ago in Leeman.
A small win for the amatuers, lets hope its not a sweetener for locking up the coast for marine parks?

Actually the move to drop the
Actually the move to drop the rec catch was based, at least in part, on a bug in how they were accounting the rec quota.
My comment, whilst it did come after yours, wasn't really directed that way. It was addressed at the original poster's comment; "they finally reliesed we take only 5% of the comnercial limits".
To restate; No, we weren't getting out 5% and we got our crays back because we never took our allocated 5%.

I had no problem with a bag limit of 6. Gave me another reason to put the boat in the following weekend.
