hey,
i was just wondering if anyone has any positive or negative feedback on charters over there? im going in a few weeks time with the mrs.
I have tried looking for reviews on here and online, doesn't seem to be too many.
from what i found these guys have a few postive reviews and are pretty much on my hotels door step... so they are my first choice for now.

I was there in August 5 years ago and what I saw of the catches was not that encouraging.I spoke to people coming in from a couple of charters at Grande Baie and they had only caught a few small tuna. One bloke that was staying at the hotel I stayed at chartered a 40 footer by himself that picked him up at our hotel jetty. From memory it was only about $500 for the day but he only caught 4 or 5 smallish tuna.
Apparently they catch quite a few marlin at the right time of the year. There are quite a few charter boats operate out of Grande Baie.
Mauritius is a beautiful place and when we were there the weather was awsome with very little wind.

I was there 15 years ago and went out on 5 half day charters from Trou Aux Biches (can't remember name of the company) and caught heaps of small Bonito, 10 - 15kg Dorado (mahi mahi) and a few YFT. Hooked a "grander' Marlin but pulled the hooks after 45 mins to an hour of fighting, I'll never forget the sight of it launching out of the water when it took the lure.

I have fished there quite a few times, wait till you get there and speak to the people at the hotel you are staying at.They will have the better ones to go out on,make sure you speak to the concierge not the guys working the grounds.Definately stay away from any guys who approach you on the beach as the more proffesional guys dont do this. There are heaps of them over there but you will definately get what you pay for.

cheers for the feedback guys.
from what i have read online, the area seems to be over fished. im not going to book anything just yet, i like the idea of seeing what the concierge has to say.
thanks again for your thoughts and experiences.
