Hervey Bay/1770 mid-north QLD trip - Other suggesttions??

Hey guys, heading up to Hervey Bay/1770 in the next few weeks on an 8 day trip. We'll be in an RV and mostly fishing land based. Besides the Uragen Pier, the rocks in 1770 i was just wondering if any of you guys have any suggestions for some good spots or options in that area? We'll also be heading out of a few guided charters if the winds play nice.

Thanks guys

Hervey Bay Area

Hey Patty,

Just north of Hervey Bay is a small town called Toogom. It isn't too bad at times, but rather tidal, so worth a go on the incoming wading for whiting.

Further north is Burrum Heads, and not much around there at the moment (parents live there..... so get a weekly update).

Enjoy. It's a great part of Qld.

Rainbow Beach just south of

Rainbow Beach just south of Fraser island is top of the list for everything.  Any charters are better from south of Fraser as you get into deep water for better reefies.

North of Fraser in the bay gets fished pretty hard and is shallow but can really fire up when the mackerel turn up.. anytime from now on.

Burrum Heads for sure,  only a short trip from Hervey heading north.  This whole area is a great spot for a kayak if you can take one.

Rainbow Beach Charter,  Ed Falconer "Keely Rose" mob.0407146151.  Ed is a good skipper and works hard to find fish. He has a web site.

1770

spent a few days there this time last year, reminded me of Kalbarri a bit

hired a dinghy, very cheap, down at the marina

headed up the tidal creek flicking a few lures around. Scored some ripper flatties. albeit the locals said they were tiddlers .

theres a good tackle shop on the left hand side just before you come into agnus water, then 1770 is a few kms after that. Theres some pics of flatties in there up to a 1m long
