 Anyone that disagrees should

Thu, 2012-10-25 08:04

Anyone that disagrees should probably make an effort and send in a letter, I will be.

I can understand that sometimes swimming and fishing doesn't mix but surely if you're not swimming between the flags you're fair game to have a 4oz sinker land on your swede. In all seriousness though people are encouraged to swim between the flags so any area outside of that within reason should be allowed to be fished. Common sense should prevail on both parts, if people are swimming somewhere don't fish, and if someone's fishing there dont swim. We've been set-up at Trigg for a fish on the beach well away from swimmers yet you still have douchebags that are walking in the shallow water that can't take the effort to walk around you.

I hope it doesn't go through because it may set a precedent for other councils to be turds aswell.

Agree

Not everyone can get to more isolated areas to fish. Some common sense and courtesy to all beach users and swimmers needs to be applied. How many jetties and groynes are used all along the coast were fisho's and swimmers co-exist. Another rule for the ever expanding book of Big Brother

Our leaders at it again

I guess it took a few years to work up the courage to say they don't want to mix with those types.  I wonder which area is next to set the agender for whos faces they look at.

WTF is wrong with these

Thu, 2012-10-25 13:10

WTF is wrong with these people? When did common sense become extinct? Don't swim where people are already fishing and don't fish where people are already swimming - problem solved I would have thought.

Typical Pen Pushers!!

Thu, 2012-10-25 16:24

Unfortunately common sense ins't all that common!! Surely a sign saying "Swimmers beware - fishing conducted in this area. Exercise caution" would be sufficient to cover themselves?? Maybe it's cheaper to ban it than make the signs!!

I haven't fished there yet

Thu, 2012-10-25 19:56

I haven't fished there yet but I dont like what they are trying to do. As donteatfish said, if it sets a presidence then all LB fishers are screwed.

Not being Australian I cant really claim this but surely there are traditions of father son going down to local beaches and have a quiet fish in the evening. I'm sure there are a few people that make bad decisions and give fishos a bad name but surely there must be some common sense. Seems like the group with the loudest voice gets there way so maybe we get louder?

Otherwise we could all buy boats and fish just offshore with enough burley to attract some of the bigger fish to the area. Then see how long the swimmers stay in the water........

Floreat drain is one of my

Tue, 2013-06-18 10:57

Floreat drain is one of my favourite spots to fish during summer, love going down there with my dad along with city beach and trigg. I agree with most of the comments made, its all about common sense. I never set up anywhere close to an area where people are swimming or if there are kids there. I don't know why they would ban fishing at trigg, its pretty dangerous to swim near some of those parts, lots of reef and strong current. Ive unfortunately encountered some rude people who run in front of fishing gear when its set up, and this is when im like 5m away from the water. Another thing I haven't seen many people swimming close to the stormwater drains during the last summer.

Ive noticed that its mainly those people going for their jogs and exercising that make a big noise if anyone gets in their way, ive even seen one guy knock over someone else's gear. If their want to ban or restrict something in that area it should be those kite surfers. Ive nearly been knocked out by one of those things. And they turn up out of nowhere and surf right across your line and it gets cut off.

Seems nation wide

Tue, 2013-06-18 12:24

This really sucks, If it gets passed at Floreat it will "spread" and the afternoons of just popping off to the beach to wet a line will become a thing of the past. There seems to be a major clamp down on recreational fishers across the whole country, we must be easy pickings. I get a regular news letter and this is not an isolated case.

Someone somewhere has a few screws loose. Its a case of 'lets pick on the beach fishers, but lets do nothing about the guys advertising illegally caught snapper for sale on Gumtree'.

Sad sad situation!

The whole country is turning to shit.  Too many do-gooders and greenie wankers who have nothing better to do than mess with our traditional way of life.

Common courtesy is gone

Sun, 2013-06-23 16:14

Had a typical example over the weekend. Was bream fishing in Shelley Saturday morning with my daughter. She's only seven and most prob can only cast 10 meters on a good one. Then this kayaker decides to keep his line of travel and goes straight over her line maybe 5 meters from shore.......what the? Couldn't even bother to go wide for this little patch of river.
