Electric motors.

Hi thinking about getting a watersnake electric motor.........I will not be running it continuiousley much, more just to pull away from snags and re-positioning.

Has anyone had much to do with these motors. Given my intended usage will i need an expensive deep cycle battery?

Im looking at a rear mount 54lb unit for my 3.9 V hull dinghy. Do you think windage will be a problem with the rear mount compared to a front mount.

Any info will be appreciated

Definatly get one. I have got a watersnake and I love it. Although make sure you get a bowmount- Much more easier to operate.

Really nice to use. I have a 54lb on my 3.9m Quinny V Hull dinghy, I can post some pics if you want.

I have a large battery on my. Although you could easily run a smaller one, I just like the security of knowing I always have power if my other enguine breaks. I have used the leccy for over 8hrs constantly in the river with over half my charge left.

how would you go fitting a watersnake to a cuddy cab?  I have no walk around facility, would I need a hand controller that I could operate from the back of the boat?  or am I just pushing shit up hill?

I believe minn kota have one that can do that but not 100%.

You have 3 options for controlling a leccy:

1. Foot Pedal

2. Wristband

3. Neck Cord

One problem I would see could be going off with the main enguine- forgetting it is down, I have already done that a few times in my tinny but luckly not at full speed, only while leaving yachtclubs and flats.

How big is your boat? What are you fishing for?

Justo82 I think you would

Justo82 I think you would have a hard time putting it on a cuddy cab, being that you need to lift it in and out on the mounting bracket, controling would not be a problem, you have the foot controls that you use. You would be better off with the aft mount. You would have to climb over the cab to get it up and down.

I use one on my little 3.9 and it is awesome. Recommend for anyone with a little tinny, as long as you have the place to mount it, need to have a little bit of a flat surface to mount it.

see my avatar for the mounting, they work an absolute treat.
