Your thoughts.

Hi Folks,
chasing your thoughts & opinions on an older hull.
A 5.6m Pacemaker with a 115Hp Yammy 2 stroke compared with a 5.6m Voyager with a 145Hp 2 stroke Merc.
I know the Merc is bigger but mainly interested in the hull comparison for ride & strength.
Appreciate your input.

Pacemaker
My choice would be the Pacemaker, have ridden in both and found the Pacemaker had the better ride

Did Merc make a 145hp outboard?
Give a man a mask, and he'll show you his true face...
The older you get the more you realize that no one has a f++king clue what they're doing.
Everyone's just winging it.

That was the first thing I thought about too Rob, I know there was a 150, I had that on my first boat, but unsure of a 145.

Merc
There was a Merc 135hp 2 stroke. Maybe that was what the "word of mouth" meant.

Choice
My old boat was a Voyager LTD powered by a Johnson 2 stroke v6 150hp. Ran like a whipped thoroughbred! Lol
The handling was good. Stability was decent but would tend to lean when 2 guys are on 1 side (eg: 1 holding rod, other with gaff ready. Haha).
A member on here has a Pacey 6m with a 115hp 2 stroke. A little underpowered but does the job. Handling is similiar to the Voyager.
My current boat is a Penguin Huntress. Awesome handling and very stable at rest! Old school hull with the reverse chines but fken awesome boat! Has a Johnson 120hp but new motor/s going on it in the "near" future.

Never been in a pacemaker
Never been in a pacemaker but had a voyager and am looking to get back into one when it's time to upgrade. Had a 115 on it and went pretty well. Out of all the boats I've had it's so far been the best in terms of capability for size, maintenance etc (but everyone's opinion is different). Was very stable and rode very nicely. Would go anywhere in it! I'm sure they're both great boats though you're on a winner! Good luck

Pacemaker
I had a Pacemaker 210 Offshore - great hull, very solid
I love the flared bow on them
Just check the floor for the usual softness if exposed to weathering/water ingress

Voyager
I just purched an old voyager ghia 84 model had to have the transom rebuilt $3400. The ride is amazing soft gentle and can handle just about aything you are likely to be out in. Wide body stable amazing freeboard has 115 hp evenrude ocean pro and can hit 30 + knots in the calmer wheather. Can also hit 20 knots on a choppy swester coming back from Rotto. Having said that ther are some dodgy old fibreglass boats out there took me few months to find the right one and then still had spend big $ to get it up to scratch.

Both good
Only thing with pacemaker ( old ones). Some are foam filled pain in ass if you need repaires down the track. Voyager built very solid. Couldn't go wrong with one or other. Good luck

Thanks.
Thanks for all the input folks, appreciate it very much.
I had a Baron Sportsman years age and i guess i am using that as a comparison.
Was very happy with it and sad to see it go for varoius reasons.
Again thanks for the input, can always rely on the F/W family for advise in past experiences.
