Yamaha 115hp problems
Submitted by Carry on Fri, 2012-11-16 07:15
G'day all wondering if anyone can help me with any ideas my Yamaha 2 stroke 115hp is having dramas when I put into forward and throttle up it seems like it gets to much fuel and just wallows until it hits a certain spot and then up she goes runs fine in the higher rev range When you go to slow down it stalls and as the day went on it just got harder and harder to start any ideas would be good.
Ps have changed the plugs and fuel filter.
Cheers Carry

Carbys
Definately sounds like it time for a carby clean or overhaul , it only takes a small amount of crap in the right place to cause problems like that .
It is also a good idea to run an inline fuel filter if you dont already .

Get a can of carby cleaner
Get a can of carby cleaner and spray it down your air intake with the engine running. If your lucky it will clear out the blockage.
If your unlucky then you'll have to pull it apart and do it properly.

Sounds like you have water
Sounds like you have water stuck in the carby. If you are running a underfloor fuel tank make sure you have changed the water/fuel seperator filter as these tanks build up condensation. Had this problem on mine and it fixed it straight away. Or maybe run some metho in the fuel tank if you think its got water in it.

Yep
Yep changed the water seperator filter emptied it first didn't seem to be water in it going to run some clean fuel in an outboard tank and see if it makes a difference if not I will be thinking definitely carbies also would the fuel line sucking in air do the same thing I noticed the fuel line is getting on very faded not perished but definitely aged will replace that as well see if that helps. The other thing is how much metho do you put in its 120 liter fuel tank.

I am, as I've said, merely competent. But in an age of incompetence, that makes me extraordinary.

Dont know if they are like
Dont know if they are like the fuel pumps on the yammy 90 hp 2 strokes which are vacumn activated & have a clear membrane/ diaphragm as opposed to mechanical or electric fuel pump, if so you can buy new pieces & easy/ cheap fix(Check Ebay), mind you you can change every other bloody thing out before you finally arrive at the pump, Lockies Oldman & I had 2 of them on a Markham Whaler & last thing we fixed, they purred after that , your symptoms are very similar , hope this helps.
