My personal favourite is the strudwick sic stik pros 1-3kg due to the light flingy tip and the nice loading on smaller fish. Hard to find now though :(

Rod suggestions

Sat, 2012-12-29 13:41

We use 1-3kg ultra light rods with whitting on lures and our preference is 7ft. The extra tip length gives you the tippy'ness to cast 2gm plus whitting stickbaits and poppers etc.

Ryan use's the Pflueger 1-3 ultra light and they have a great price version ie the Pflueger Trion which is high modulas HM-45 graphite which allows you to punch out light lures and all Fuji components. FW Price $105

A 1-3kg berkley dropshot

Sat, 2012-12-29 22:41

A 1-3kg berkley dropshot could be worth a look. I have a 2-4kg and it is a very nice rod for the price for light stuff

Whiting rod!

Sun, 2012-12-30 01:17

I use my Pflueger Supreme 1-3 ultra light rod for whiting on stickbaits or poppers!

Reel wise I'm using a Stadic 25000J with 6lb Extreme PE Braid!

Lures wise I'm using Smiths Towadi (Floating stickbait), Giga Screw and Deka screw (sinking stickbaits) etc on YF whiting!

The Pflueger Trion that Blake mentioned is a great value rod and has all the charachteristics you need to punch out light lures for whiting!!

Diawa reels are the ducks

Tue, 2013-01-01 02:10

Diawa reels are the ducks nuts, their rods however I do not trust, seen too many broken ones that are top shelf rods.

Great for flicking  light

Tue, 2013-01-01 22:33

Great for flicking  light lures  and working the action on the likes of pop dogs and scum dogs. Ive never owned anything else this light before so am unable to compare its performance.

One of the other sales assistants  who noticed  my purchases raved about it and rated it as the best rod in its class and purpose.
