very spoilt

Went down to the Ammo jetty last night and the ammount of scalies down there at the moment you could just about walk across the water and best of all there are plenty of nice sized ones about the size of a mulie perfect size for dropping down whole when out on the boat or for the rock hoppers out there who chase the tailor.

The usual shark boys were down there doing there thing had a bit of a chat with a few of them including our publicised member Ant was a good night no yar hoo rednecks

Only bad thing I saw was one of our off shore residents catching undersized crabs and after mentioning to him the size he was putting them back over and all swam off

We go quite a bit for bait catching, and I see a big missed opportunity for fisheries there.

( quite conveniently this jetty is a meeting point for the people fisheries should target)

1, There is a redneck element who fish there, the local freo paper have been giving them a serv lately

and to the general public these guys are killing the good name rec fishers have built up, so while there young and

might need a hand in seeing the error of there ways , perfect place for fisheries in a non confrontational

way to engage these blokes.Go down have a chat , not in uniform , gain some respect ,and maybe help the situation,

we were all young once and did things we may regret later.Whom among us many moons ago took too many

or didnt do the right thing?

2, Yep lots of new Australians fish there too, and the rules and regs get bent on a daily basis.

Nothing too huge , just like you say a couple of small crabs or 6 baitchaser hooks on a rig.( It is illegal regardless I know)

Not condoning it , and sure fisheries could march down there and fine and kick arse.

But , they could always see it as a first step in educating these people , which as we all know is the only way

to manage a state as big as W.A. They cant police everywhere, so try to educate, and finally in hard core effendors

whether there redneck aussie shark catchers or new immigrant crab cullers then pull the big stick out.

The 6 hooks on the bait catcher jig is a classic. My question is why do they sell them in WA with 6 hooks if your only allowed the 3?

I didnt add , that of course not everyone whom fishers or catchs a shark down there is a noob.

Have talked and meet some great young blokes down there , all who are keen as mustard

to fish and follow there passion , in a legal and respecful way.

More power to them and well done on the 2 macks reported in todays paper, you blokes really deserve those

fish, the conditions on that jetty can be severe and to hang in there , day after day and into the night takes more

guts and determination than most.

cheers.
