probably been done before , but what is your favorite sea food feed mine are pretty simple and bread and butter stuff, mine are
1, blue swimmer crabs in thick crusty bread washed down with a emu export
2, lightly pan fried KGW shared with the wife ( ok its not quite a bread and butter species )
3 sand whiting fillets between two pieces of toast
4 smoked herring or tailor for breeky
had all the other fish and seafood types and are good but hard pressed to beat the bread and butter stuff done the right way

And I thought I was the only one who liked whiting on toast lol.. hard pressed to beat crab meat dipped in vinegar with white pepper between two crusty slices of fresh bread .. chillie mussels are up there , deep fried skippy with tamarind sauce ... salt and pepper squid .. it'd be a long list of likes . Dhu , kg and snapper prefer mostly plain grilled or lightly battered ..Now I'm hungry

Orr yeah, I enjoy goin fishin
Orr yeah, I enjoy goin fishin and bringin home a feed keeps the enjoyment rolling after the boat has been put away. You can get a quality feed without going deep. My favs that are accessible to me and my lil tub are panko crummbed flatties and whiting, pan fried dhu, salt n pepper squid on a mega hot barbie plate, havent got a fav way of eatin pinks cos Iv only got one keeper, and found it a bit strong. I reckon crab tastes amazing but cant be arsed with the messy effort eatin them, and have enjoyed a feed of chilli mussels from the grain terminal pilons with me missus noona's wog sauce. I might keep a skippy for sashimi, finely shaven slices. I think it all tastes just that bit better when you catch it yourself. I do like fish sangas too Pete, wakin up on a beach and catchin some tailor or hezzas, fried up fresh and slapped between 2 bits of bread with a runny fried egg and a bit of s&p is a good way to start the day
I am, as I've said, merely competent. But in an age of incompetence, that makes me extraordinary.

you nailed it
fresh hezza/tailor runny egg (running through your fingers) and 2 bits of bread on the beach doesn't get much better than that simple, straight forward and extra tasty ( the runny egg is a must)

Mmmh
My favourite sofar is baked cobia with Dijon mustad crumbs. Coral cod does ok the same style. Salt n pepper calamari is up there. Might sound weird but battered white bait with sweet chilli sauce is decent! ( obviously not the whitebait from the servo or bait shops)

Had some sand whiteing and skippy fillets yesterday, mixed 60/40 flour and crumbs tea spoon of cracked pepper and tea spoon garlic salt in the mix, squeeze of lemon over the fillets before flouring them then pan fried in butter. Whiteing was unbeatable and even the humble old skippy come up pretty good.

People dont rate skippy, i reckon fresh is pretty dam good, especially when camping and you get a couple and straight on the barbie... Bloody awesome!
Gotta be Whiting fillets in butter for sure.
But for those who wish to try another way for whiting, especially KG fillets.
Lightly pan fried with a dollop of butter, splash of olive oil, splash of white wine and some freshly chopped parsley! Dam thats so good, even with other fish fillets as well!

Man I'm so hungry after
Man I'm so hungry after reading all that...What about garlic butter crays? When raw seperate the cray tail from the shell, leaving the bottom of the tail meat just in contact with the shell. Mix fresh crushed garlic with butter in a bowl and apply generous amounts to the inside of the shell then put the flesh back inside the shell. On a hot plate put on the garlic butter and put the cray tail flesh side down for about 90 seconds until seared. Flip it over onto the shell and let the garlic butter bubble it's flavor through the cray tail. Wash it down with a cold beer or wine and life is good!!
Do the right thing and there will be fish tomorrow.

Same as most
Same as most of you, i just like nice fillets lightly flour'd and pan fried. Whiting, herring etc are all great.
But when i lived with a house full of fisho's in Quinns rocks we got very spoiled with fresh seafood and sometimes tried some experiments. The best outcome we tried goes like this---
Take 1 occy skinned, 5 Roes Abalone, 1 Cray tail . Now put all of them through a meat mincer, then run it all through the mincer again to break it right down as the occy and abalone can be quite tough .
In a bowl , mix it all with some minced garlic and season with salt and pepper. ( add any herbs or spice you like )
Then spoon the mixture into an ice cube tray, cover with glad rap , and place into the freezer to set. ( with large amounts i vacum seal the whole ice cube tray and freeze to be used at a later date.
To cook, pop them out of the tray, dip them into a beer batter and deep fry for 1 to 2 minutes , then enjoy . Simple but yummy .
Cheers Grant
