Sounder pics - an update
Hi all
Here's a followup from my previous thread regarding the sounder pics I posted, seeking clarification of caves and ledges, etc. Today my daughter and I ventured out to the same site and went for a dive to check out what was down there.
I took a photo of the sounder image before we went over the side, but unfortunately somewhere between me going over the side and collecting the rest of my gear hanging on the lanyard, I've dropped my camera and housing. I had my arm through the strap that's attached to the housing but somehow it's come off my arm. As I wasn't sure whether it would float or sink, my first thought was to look on the bottom, 12m below. The vis was really good but the bottom was rocky and lumpy and covered with weed and we never found it. I went back to the surface for another look, but no luck there....bugger. It was a Sea and Sea 1200HD digital camera and housing.....only had a few photos on it because I download the pics every time I take photos, so I haven't lost the pics, just the camera and housing.
The ground I took the original sounder pics on, consists of deep trenches, high walls and overhanging ledges, with a few full on caves thrown in.
Once I've replaced the camera, I'll get back there and take some more photos.
We only saw a couple of sized crays and a few kackas, but they were hiding way back under the ledges, well out of snare range. Did see a big KG whiting, but he wasn't hanging around.
Hope all those who ventured out today had a better day than me.

getting the bottom line final answer from a bunch of blokes that use false names and put smiley faces at the end of paragraphs is not the best place in the world to get the information you seek.

Just the camera & housing
We did a search around the dive site in a zig zap pattern for nearly an hour after the dive but the only thing we found was a dive boot.
I've been checking out replacement cameras and it mentions that the housings will float.....too late now, though.
