Son of tomcat
Submitted by Tomcat on Tue, 2012-09-04 22:08
Hi this is son of Tomcat thanks for all the msg very heart felt. he was a great bloke and my best mate not just my old man. we worked fished and hung out together. he will be truly missed by all. the pain became too much for him and he made the decision to be comfortable for the last of his days and this is a man who had drilled through his hand with a drill, smashed his thumb with a steel mallet, wrapped it in gaffa tape. Even put an axe through his leg (on different days) and still kept workin so the pain must of been bad. we were told he wouldn't make it through Friday night but fought on till Monday morning 10 min after fathers day RIP DAD

Wow, heartfelt inspiration
Wow, heartfelt inspiration dude, to make it through dads day like that, true trooper dad!
I am, as I've said, merely competent. But in an age of incompetence, that makes me extraordinary.

Sorry for your loss...
I have a similar bond with my son of which I am forever grateful. I'm sure you meant a hell of a lot to your Dad too - celebrate him for the great man who shared your life.

Great message. Hope my son
Great message. Hope my son says the same about me (except for the axe in the leg bit
).
I haven't seen the FW community pull together on something like this so it's saying something about Tomcat. There have been a few blokes on here who have passed away over the years but nothing I can remember has seen the tributes flow like this.
All the best and thanks for posting the update mate.

condolences on your sad loss
sad to hear that you have not only lost your dad but also a great friend as well.he will be missed by all on this site.
I think that it might be the appropriate time to stop what we are doing and look at a couple of things that we can do for ourselfs (men) that will keep us safe as can be expected from the big C.
if you are over 40 next time you visit your doc ask for a Prostate check, not nice, embarassing uncomfortable yep on all counts but it can save your life
when ever you have a blood sample taken ask for a PSA check to be done as well, cost is minimal
if you are over 60 see your doc about getting a bowel cancer check kit, it is the only time you can send a crap in a box to some one and not get in trouble for it.
get your partner or do it yourself check your breasts for lumps hard spot etc, men can't get breast cancer i hear you say well i can show you a deformed left breast that i have where a lump was taken from. luckily it proved to be benign, but the experience absolutely scared the hell out of me.doc told me it is uncommon for men to suffer from breast cancer but it does happen.
an uncomfortable 15 minutes can save your life if things are found soon enough think about it.
