Sneakyfisho

Hi Guys, have been pondering this for over a week now as to post this or not but after reading Thomasrick's post (http://fishwrecked.com/forum/be-warned-0) i have decided to post.

I had found http://sneakyfisho.com/index.php/fish/today/ through ebay and bid on an item, won the item and was happy with the purchase, anyway i decided to order a couple of rods from thier site, now the shipping costs were stated at the time that any purchase over $70 would be free shipping Australia wide but purchases containing rods even over $70 would be charged at $15 flat rate, i thought fair enough so i bought the rods (teloscopic for putting in the back of the car), payed by paypal and thought nothing of it, next day checked my bank account to see that i had been charged $110 extra on the price of the rods not the $15!

So i send them an email and after 2days without a responce i find another email address for them and email again, forwarding the invoice and asking why i had been charged the extra $110, this email was responded to promptly with the responce that i had incured a $55 surcharge per rod as freighting to Port Hedland is expensive!, so i reply again asking about the $15 flat rate this time i haven't recieved a reply(email sent on thursday) but i see that on the website the freight charges now say "refer sale item surcharge" for purchases containing rods.

Sorry about my whinge but feel that i should warn others that may be looking for a bargain.

Get up them strait away..

Get the situation alerted to eBay. Leave very curse negative feed back. I'll help by letting my friends know how bad they are. Perhaps others on here could post their intentions to help you. Stay firm and confident, you will get it sorted in your favour.

all the best. :)

in my experience paypal wont help you with this.  I had an order from america from knifedepot who is a rated reputable ebay seller, the order was never sent which I used paypal and they wont do anything  if it is outside ebay.  paypal arent the good guys they make out to be.  The selller on the other hand fobbed me off for over a year until I gave up, lesson learned there.

Aussie shipping , certainly please bend over!

Mon, 2012-12-10 07:07

Dont know anything about above company , but aussie shipping sometimes just sucks.

1 month ago I ordered 4 brand new quad tyres 25x10x12 and 25x8x12 from rocky moutain

atv in the states, the total package came to about 25kgs and the order was worth about 250 bucks.

Total shipping delivered to my door in 1 week, yep 1 week was $60 .

Dont believe me , go to the web site , do a mock shopping cart , click on calculate shipping, its all there to see.

They use dhl with a tracking number and you can see it move from U.S to hong kong to freo over the week.

Everyone uses aussie post here, but makes me wonder if its worth ringing a frieght company for a quote

on bigger, more expensive items? or it just stupid aussies again paying what they want to charge us, not what the service is worth.

False Advertising

Mon, 2012-12-10 08:06

If there is no mention of a possible surcharge on the Ebay page then there is no question you can get the money back. Just go directly to Paypal. I had a similar situation once when items described on Ebay as genuine manufacture parts were actually generic ones. Paypal refunded me.

transport and postage costs

Mon, 2012-12-10 14:05

Two years ago I wanted to transport an item to a holiday town north of Perth, thought I'd use the local trucking contractor and keep the town business .... on the phone the cost of the transport was quoted as nearly the cost of the item over $1500.... Double checked it and then called back to make sure....

So I hired a trailer from local outlet drove items plus some extra things up...... had a couple of days fishing.

Heres a rough cost;

Large tandem axle furniture trailer for three days (over the weekend) $120

fuel in landcruiser about $350

two days fishing and relaxing...... free

 transport business got $0.00

Makes you wonder...

inspiration

Mon, 2012-12-10 16:16

well thinking about this thread has inspired me to send some more emails to knifedepot see what the BS excuse is this time.

the trouble is is you negotiate postage outside of ebay the transaction is considered a cash transfer because you havent bid or done "buy it now" so you might as well deposit the money from your bank account because pay pal offers no security for these sorts of transfers.

On a more positive note I have a couple of other shops I have been using for years that look after their customers and want to get repeat buyers.

In all the time I have bought online I have only had this one problem.

You might find that you never actually specified how much they were allowed to remove from your bank account, therefore it will be harder to get your money back, as they will claim you didnt read the fine print. But if you kick up a uss and some other FW give them bad reputation, they will refund.
