rub-a-dub here's me new tub
Well, after years of convincing myself of reasons not too, I lashed out, spent a sh*tload and got myself a new boat to replace the very capable and fishy Hayley's Comet. Hopefully the new tub has as fishy a future and can live up to the Comet's lofty standards. Fingers crossed that 2011 brings big billfish, bottom fish, bulk speared fish and bonza times with good mates. It's had a good start with Tuesdays trip to the barges with Till and SamC jigging, then a double dive today with Alfred and Till again. Nothing was kept today but enough crays were spotted and some little cute dhuies passed the time nicely. Here's a few pics.
We've also chucked a few names around but haven't settled on one so if you have a good idea post it up, the winner (if selected) gets a free trip jigging the barges in November.

I think she's a little
I think she's a little unsure, she loved the Comet and is dreading hanging onto this one at Tantabiddi while I get the car, hence we have been having trailer reversing lessons! Plus she is a bit jealous of the new girl getting the attention lately.

just for you
just for you Brodz, Northbank 600 Cuddy 120hp Cummins turbo diesel top speed 29kts 200nm range, Lowrance HDS 10 Stress Free anchor winch, which I'm loving, well Jamie probably is... deck wash, storm covers, massive kill tank, I thought long and hard about it but definitely not regretting it now. You can make your own mind up in a few weeks and we'll go for a jig.

200nm range at 29kts aint
200nm range at 29kts aint happening. Sitting on 18-19kts is 3100rpm is more economical. The tank is 150L, topped it up today after doing 90nm already and it took 70L. Chuck a few jerries or a bladder in the kill tank and it's over the horizon for me.

louder than a 4 stroke but
louder than a 4 stroke but pretty ok noise levels. There's a bit of improving that could be done with the sound proofing but if you want to talk that much you must be a woman. The extra noise is small price to pay for the motor economy and reliability.

the Northbanks have a pretty
the Northbanks have a pretty good rep and when you're only buying 2nd hand you can't be super fussy. You see plenty is SA and Vic but they're not as common over here with plate boats having a much bigger following than other states. Plus if it can handle SA waters it can handle what WA can throw up.
