Pods (making your own) ** updated** ready for water test this week
Submitted by fisho-ron on Sat, 2014-02-15 19:04
Hi guys
first post in a while, this FIFO don't leave much time for the internet.
my cousin is 99% set on a new Suzuki 115 for his tub and he wants to make his own ally pod, he is a body builder by trade, so the work is no probs, just the design and ideas.
1 thing that is set is the pod will be a full extension of the hull, just want to see who has done it, any probs or things you would change?
any pics would be great, it's going on a 17ft pacemaker or penquin half cabin( not 100% sure on breed)
looks like allboats are getting the nod on the motor/gauges/hydro steer unless you guys no better?
thanks to all replays in advance

Hi GuysWell fishwrecked dose
Hi Guys
Well fishwrecked dose it again and saves my cousin quite a few dollars!!
many thanks for the info guys, well worth the effort of asking.
Here a few pics of the build and engine, not sure who he went with on the engine but he ended up with a 115hp suzuki and saved a quid, even to the stage of hydrulic steering being included as well.
he has gone with a full hull extension pod(doing it himself), would love to here good or bad things on this as this was a major step!!
Cousin reckons it will be ready in 2-3 weeks for a water test, will put up more pics as he sends to me.
cheers and thanks again guys!!!

some more pics of the cousins
some more pics of the cousins pod, its looking very good with alot of hours going into it, im going down tomorow to check it out in the flesh.
if it goes as well as it looks, he will be stoked, still a bit to do, but its getting closer.
also if anyone knows where to buy gunnel rubber by the meter would be handy, he wants to carry the rubber on as well so it all matches in,
so far he can only find 20mtr rolls, only needs a couple of meters...
cheers

Hi Guys just went and checked
Hi Guys
just went and checked out the cousins boat....wow!! what a great job
not only did he do the pod, he also replaced all the floor and glassed it all in, resprayed with colour flex, i kidd you not this boat looks brand new!!
including hydrulic steering and electronic gauges
he wants to add some more stickers to the back to even things out a bit
little things to note are the way he has continued the shape of the hull all the way through,
the gunna rubber extended and the joints just about unnoticable.
moved the boat back on the trailer, might need to shift the cradle forward a bit now.
he is a little worried that the donk aint big enough now, wished he had gone the 150hp, will update again on the final testing outcome.
testing is hopefully on wednesday.
cheers
