And we would google why, just so we can bang our heads against the wall in frustration.  Next they will be trying to sue dog owners...

It is a bit of a worry.

It is a bit of a worry.  Bloody USA and their obsession with courts and sueing.  Seems like just another day in USA

I don't think it will

Mon, 2011-10-31 09:37

I don't think it will actually make court. But it will do what is meant to do. Raise public awareness of Large animals being taken from the wild and out into captivity, which i think is a good thing.

i was at Seaworld this month,

Mon, 2011-10-31 10:41

i was at Seaworld this month, and they creatures are very well looked after and only perform if they want too.

Yes they should be free in the wild, but in their captive areas they are doing a greater good for the rest of their species by promoting a love for whales and dolphin etc.

ps is amy dog a slave to me, and yes I know I'm a slave to my cat....

when does animal captivity become slavery and when is it justified??? should we release all the cows before they slaughted, are they not nutrional slaves to our burgers???

how far does PETA want to push this, as it seems this is a test of the waters for them to set legal standings, then challenge any ownerhsip andholding of any creature by man?

ps Shamu is awsome and we where less than 1m from him on the rest plaform and saw his eyes gleam and play with his handler.

Seaworld make the Whales

Mon, 2011-10-31 13:16

Seaworld make the Whales perform for food Tony. Killer Whales are family oriented animals that stay in a family group there whole life. There DNA can be taken right back to the pod (family) and these animals could possibly be released directly back into there own family group.

Seaworld is in court at the moment on a few fronts. Not just this one with PETA.

Oh and i would compare seaworld's enclosures to visiting a zoo to see a Cheater or African Lion in a box that is 6 foot by 6 foot. How would the public see that and be impressed. Seaworld needs to see it time to change. Its not all about the money.

I personally believe its time to STOP taking these magnificent animals away from the families, sticking them in tinny tanks and starving them to perform for us to marvel at how great they are simply for our enjoyment.

But slavery laws as a case?Next thing you know you while have your door kicked in because someone has put handcuffs on you in the bedroom..Why dont they stop us from fishing because we kidnapped a fish and detained it against its will.I dont agree with keeping whales and for that case whalesharks in tanks but in saying that i also keep african chyclids does that make me a hypocrite?I also have a cat that has killed a couple of birds in the back yard in its early years does that mean i can go to jail for habouring a known mass murderer? The list can go on and on.I think they are just grasping at whatever laws they can and all it does is bog the court systems down for years. If you also cast your mind back a few short years when the dolphins got released from atlantis. They performed at the side of the boat for mulies.(a couple still do)in the wild. The damage is already done and you cant take it back. The three that got rehomed at aqwa we all know what happened there dont we.Learn from past mistakes and move on i say.You know i dont agree with whaling either but when i said last season that the activists had stuff all to do with the call off and they will be back as soon as the price and demand is back.I guess we will find out sometime before march 2012 if the price is high enough to warrant ship upgrades. For the whales sake i hope im wrong.    On a side note unfortunately breeding programs at zoos may well be the only way of saving some species if the destruction of habitat keeps going the way it is.We are all in some way impacting on the planet wether that be driving to work using oil from the ocean floors for fuel and replacing it with salt water.Would you replace the oil in your engine with salt water.I am damn sure no one reading this is living in a cave using pedal power to run the internet. That goes double for the tree huggers that drive down to the state forest to stop logging and trash the area, they dig holes and bury cars, they crap all over the place, they drive cars that burn as much oil as fuel.If we stuff the planet we are all to blame and some more than others.

Tony Whales are different

Mon, 2011-10-31 16:52

Tony Whales are different than fish. For one thing they aren't even fish...There mammals. Whales and especially Killer Whales have been found to be very family orientated living in family groups there entire lives..Teaching there young skills they need to survive in the wild.

Have you ever seen the Killer whales rush the beach and strand themselves for a kill? Did you know that only only family group does that. The matriarch of the family have to force the young whales up the beach to learn..

The next big issue is that they are still taking Killer whales out of the ocean. ( Not to mention thousands of Dolphins and pilot whales).

There's another case in court at the moment were Seaworld has come to the aid of a Whale but now refusing to let it go..It is in the courts as we speak.

Once upon a time we sent men to there death for our own sport and enjoyment. Once upon a time we enslaved blacks and said that this is what we do..We are the better person. Well times changed and so must now these times..

I don't expect my opinions to be popular but that's life..Hopefully one day i wont be the only one..

And yes i eat fish but no i don't eat whales or support there enslaving for my jollies..

I do like the thought of bring back Gladiators and a Collosium!

We could put hoons in an overtrack and do Thunder Races to the Death...

(yes I agree with you on taking wild dolphins and whales from the oceans is wrong. Captive bred is another issue all together)
