Same Ron. I know even on the biggest days , I'll use little more than half a tank.
If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.

does anyone know which direction the gemini lays? we were drifting se - nw and sounder wsd showing the wreck to be about 50 m wide and about 5 - 10 m off the bottom. holding a lot of fish, solid upto about 15 m. would we have been drifting across it rather than along it?

Out of fuel
Don't worry too much about being rescued due to lack of fuel.
We had another 2 who ran out of fuel as well. Overall a busy weekend including 3 kite surfers getting into trouble Saturday arvo. They are a pain in the arse.

i dont know what the
i dont know what the legalities are, but i am sure there are some to prevent it... but all i needed yesterday was a ten litre jerry can of fuel to get us back to the ramp. is there anything, other than cost recovery, stopping you guys passing a jerry can over? rather than a tow back to the ramp? your boys could have gone on their way to more important things once we had fuel rather than spending time rowing idiots like me for an hour.

OH & S Regs
We made the decision many years ago that we would not pass over fuel or batteries or try to jump start someone at sea after one of our members were in jured trying to pass fuel across to another boat. No matter what the conditions.
Also how much spare fuel do we carry. I recently had a vessel run out almost 10nm from Hillarys.

We do. 20l jerry sealed. Rope between the vessels and Jerry into the drink. We have a grab type waterproof bag and do the same with a booster pack.

Fuel and batteries are
Fuel and batteries are probably 80% of what VMR respond to. Both totally preventable.
And yeah, Chris. Can be tricky when there is a ripping side wind. Get better the more times you do it though.
