Hi all . Have been going to Exmouth for the past 10 years chasing billies but next year the crew want to mix it up and try something new. Gt fishing was the pick but have no idea where to try . Do any of the islands in the gulf hold fish or do we need to venture to Peak or Long island . Have be told the Murons but not sure where to try , north island - south island east or west sides ? Not Going until start of april next year and dont know if this is suitable time to try for them .
Thanks for any info
Cheers

Mate try inbetween the Murion
Mate try inbetween the Murion Islands. There is a big channel where the water goes inbetween the North and South Island. Use Richters, popper, anything. I went on a sportfishing charter this year, and we went there lost 20fish, i was using softplastics and the mackeral and everything else was biting through the leader. Drift through the channel. closer to the north island as it is just on the edge of the reefy drop off, cast towards either island, but the north is shallower. We saw a sailfish on the surface, cast a lure and it took the lure. But it snapped the lures back treble and completly crushed the fron treble. I started using the charter operators GT rod with a richter on it, had a massive strike, so i would use surface lures, and laserpro type lures for the tonnes of mackeral.
Ill let you on a secret spot of the charter operators, on the north Island, East side, there is a 2 big sandy beaches, that meet at a point, it looks like a 'bum", drift along the beach there 6m from shore at high tide and cast at the Queenfish, and schools of trevs. My dad, and i both got queenies 1m +, using halco rooster poppers, say 3-4inchish certainly not the huge ones. In blue, and atural colours.
The charter we went on was with On Strike sportfishing charters, they also do game fishing.
Fishing and catching are two different things. But i want to learn how to catch.

Thanks Fisher Kid
Thanks for the heads up . Sounds like you had a good time . I assume the Spot you mentioned on the North Island is near the tip on the east side as the lower part is a sanctuary zone .
