Still confusing some..

A quick search on the DPIRD site for black snapper, (blue-lined emperor, grass snapper, grass emperor) Lethrinus laticaudis, brings up this page:

https://rules.fish.wa.gov.au/Species/Index/58

Which incorrectly states size as 320mm and 5 as the bag limit in gascoyne & north.

Some people may get pinged on that info.

Similar bag limit error for bluebone:

https://rules.fish.wa.gov.au/Species/Index/188

EDIT: I emailed Fisheries with this info and webpages have been updated

and confusingly the bag limit for estuary cod has increased from 3 to 4 under the "all other species" category.

https://rules.fish.wa.gov.au/Species/Index/70

EDIT: Note that the condition for Pinkies "(outside of Shark Bay inner gulfs)" has been deleted from the latest version of the guide posted above.

link to updated guide is here;

Seems the maximum size for

Seems the maximum size for estuary cod has been removed.

I wonder what the reasoning is behind that, for years they have told us they are the breaders and need to be protected.

Apparently not any more.

 No brainer on the Estuaries

No brainer on the Estuaries imo

they just die usually

saying that we go one to release well in 50m that would have been a 30kg fish

i cleaned his/her mouth and gullet of lots of jewellery

i still reckon the bag limits are quite generous

3 on board a max of 12 fish is a good day out

Agree with your comment about

Agree with your comment about them dying Andy, I never really thought the max size limit was a good idea.

Tried to release a big one some time ago at Shark Bay, well over 20kg, but even with 2 heavy release weights in its mouth it just would not go down.

Such a waste watching a big fish like that floating away for the the sharks to eat.

Not worth the risk of putting it in the fish box, fisheries would thow the book at you for keeping it, dead or not.
