Mandurah Marlin

Heres a screenshot from a video posted on Facebook of a Marlin from one of Mandurahs northern beaches today. In the video it looks like the local Surf Rescue crew trying to revive a somewhat lifeless marlin.

not so healthy looking,
not so healthy looking, similar to the sword and GT. wonder if its our water systems (pollution) or these fish cant fight the currents and wash up here?
getting stranger every year.
my thoughts are none of these fish are healthy, i even wondered if it was a good idea for me to keep that big cobia few years back.

I dont know what all the fuss
I dont know what all the fuss is about when it comes to marlin fishing, doesn't look that hard to me. They don't even have a rod.

I remember seeing that the day it was posted and read the comments before opening the article and someone had left a comment saying it looks like a marlin. Definitley didn't look like a shark!

If they only knew what lurks out there just off the beach in silver sands.in only 10 mtrs of water. Hooked one beauty i couldnt even slow down with almost locked up drag.

Forever. Like the big blue marlin washed up on a SA beach some years ago. The ichtyologists believe, that in most cases, these fish have been trapped in cut-off eddies of warm water pushing south . these fish roam the oceans--following temperatures and the food they generate. If a warm eddy detaches itself, the fish will be increasingly hemmed in as it tries to leave, moving in a smaller and cooling spaces, pushing against the invisible barrier of temperature. And the food inside that area could disappear, too. Eventually they find themselves in cold southern temperatures, unable to feed or function, disoriented, and are either eaten by the usual predators for that latitude, or washed up. There was a good bit in Bluewater magazine on it by Julian Pepperill. And it probably happens more than the average person would think--Japanese long line records from the 1960's show blue marlin and sailfish captures off Tasmania, IIRC.
