help with a shark rig

Just wondering what knot or how do people go about connecting their braid mainline to their first swivel of a shark rig? The whole rig is crimped just curious about the top connection

I prefer to use a long mono
I prefer to use a long mono leader like 3-4m of 170lb as protection against the braid rubbing on the raspy skin of the shark. braid joined via fg knot to leader then uni knot to swivel.

Thats the way I do it.
One thing though, is I use mono that is at least twice the breaking strength of the braid. If you use any less the uni knot at the end of the mono becomes a weak point. The FG knot usually breaks about the same time that your main braid line would break.

if you are doing the FG knot
if you are doing the FG knot right, it shouldnt break. Your braid, or even the swivel should break before the knot.

depends what size shark your
depends what size shark your going for but if i were you 3 meters of steel trace, with hook (your main shark rig), then 10 meter wind on leader incase of tail wraps, reef etc and then connect that to mono which should be on top of your braid. The knot you should use is aussie plat
Good things come to those who bait

I just do a standard 3m
I just do a standard 3m heavy mono leader, attached via Bimini to GT knot, then Uni onto the swivel. If you know how to tie an FG, use the FG. if not, go for the Bimini to GT

Heading to Mullaloo? :)
hahahahaha
I pretty much do the same as Leemo, but for bigger sharks will use more heavy mono wind on leader.
