Full Moon - Epic Fail

Out on Monday and the weather was great . Launched 6am Ocean reef and fished our way out to the bank . Tried heaps of spots ranging in depth from 35 - 80mtrs . Most spots we fished have produced in the past. Fish and bait showing on the sounder but could not get a bite . Even bringing mulies back up without getting eaten by pickers . Tried using squid , mulies and wras without so much as a nibble . It was like the water was dead . I dont normally take much notice of moon and tide charts but had made the comment when we launched that there was a full moon and not sure if it will affect the fishing .

Back at the ramp and the trailer had a flat tyre . tyre sorted and then the electric trailer winch packed in with boat half way up . eventually got boat on trailer and headed home shaking our heads after a fishless day . weather and company was great but a fish would have been nice.

Does anyone know if fishing on a full moon can affect the fish biting that much or did we just have one of those days !!

Cheers Paul

Have always done extremely well BUT isn't that why it is called fishing ......how was the current which seems to impact the bite ?

barometric pressure was a bit low

Tue, 2021-03-30 12:31

we went out monday and didn`t do well either, i don`t usually worry about moons and tides because

any day on the water is a good day bit i have found the barometric pressure to be the biggest influence

on fish bite, the higher the better :-)

 I've read this theory also

I've read this theory also with pressure on the fish with swim bladders, and the also how it revolves around  weather. Storms. Put more oxygen in water  and hotter weather  less oxygen. It affects how much energy they expell so they either chill or in hunting mode .... who really knows until science proves otherwise.. but love a good theory

What time

Tue, 2021-03-30 16:20

Tides4fishing had the bite time at 2pm.

Doesn't always work....but its right a lot so I always make sure I have a bait in the water then.

 Sometimes a big dirty mullet

Tue, 2021-03-30 18:40

Sometimes a big dirty mullet fillet does the trick on days like that, even when the fresh fillet baits are untouched. Every days different!

I got stuff all too on a

Tue, 2021-03-30 20:12

I got stuff all too on a snapper bash out from OR on Sunday morning.  Pesky squid kept attacking my bait..... had one blistering run which nearly spooled me ....and after getting some line back he bit through my 80lb leader.   it was big whatever it was.
