Let your tyres down to about

Let your tyres down to about 16 psi and head into hill river mouth. Thats between jurien and cervantees. when you get into the river mouth there is tracks that you can follow all the way back into cervantees with some good fishing spots along the way.

Not sure what fishing will be like at that time of year. I would imagine still tailor and sharks of the beach.

If you can take a set of maxtrax and another vehicle. The sand can be soft through there.

Yep, Hill river is a good spot to start. I headed in there a few years ago in me cruiser in 2wd and 40lb tyres, till i caught up to a slug in a troopy....was summer, and if the sw blew up you could camp around the dunes at the mouth to get out of the wind.

Between Cervanties and Jurien

You can now drive the blacktop most of the way.You turn left through the carpark and right once you get to the back of it and you are only a few minutes in 4x4 and you are at the mouth.

Prob 10 km north of jurien. Its all changed since Iv been up there, indian ocean drive goes straight up which is good, I just googled the area and it appears there is some land development right where one of the tracks are to get to the mouth.  If you dont get any luck from here, Im sure one of the locals can fill you in, nice to have a plan before you go tho

yeah just looked it up on google maps aswell, looks like their is land development. since its only a short drive up the road, so i can always have a quick look before i actually go onto the beach, yeah always ask the locals they know whats best. best thing to do is have a plan ready.

Hey budd I live in cervantes

Mon, 2012-09-03 11:37

Hey budd I live in cervantes and kno a few good spots to try out.

As previously mentioned, Hill River Is always a good spot for tailor sharks and the odd mulla, but weed and big swells can make fishing there quite hard. Also the beach up there is VERY soft so try to avoid driving along the beach. There's a couple of reefs just north of town that come right into the beach. I've caught good size tailor on poppers and mulies around these places just before sunset.

The jetty is always worth a shot just after sunset if you use hole mulies under a float, I caught 4 good size fish 3 nights ago. Then there is the back beach wich always holds herring whitting and tailor. Also it has been a bit of a hot spot for mulloway lately. Just watch out for the rays at that spot, they hang around in plague proportions.

I hope this gives you a bit of info as to where to go. Happy fishing

hopefully when i go up there maybe catch something large, but the reefs sound good and always like to try luers and poppers.
