Is everyone having this problem or is it just me?

How many bloody Sargent bakers are around at present!!
bodie and I went out on Monday for a fish and I was constantly catching double headers of them.
the diving guys on here may know better, is it a sign we are on the wrong ground for Dhuies and baldies ect? Or is there just plague numbers of them at this time of year?
i know they make good Dhuie bait but it would be nice to catch something other than bloody Sargent bakers for the day. They were even eating their own brothers they were that hungry!
our theory is that because of the number of them around our baits then the good fish don't get a chance to have a go at the baits?
so the question is, does anyone else have the same issue at the moment??

Bait
A fillet of Sargent baker is one of the best dhuie baits around, I've found that Sargent bakers normally inhabit the same type of ground as Druids. There must still be good numbers as I'm getting them quite regularly on jigs.

Agreed they are good bait
And we are keeping a few for bait but not all.
but when they are just constantly eating their own breed you can imagine how long either Cali squids or a mulie would last down there as well.
Just seems that we cannot get away from them at the moment.

Why not
send a whole one down with a 10/0 thought it?
Then if they're eating themselves you have a problem

When I knew one was on
Towards the end of the day when I knew I had one on I was just leaving it down there and on the line for the remainder of the drift. In the hope that a random Dhuie would take a liking to it with the distress signals going out.
no luck though so if we head out later in the week as planned so far then I might just put a whole dead one down there with the biggest hook I can find through it.

I chuck them in the esky and
I chuck them in the esky and keep for bait. Save spending money on a worse product.
A double defrosted one got smashed the other day , whilst fresh bonito and slimy mac got no touches.
If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.
