Hi guys as much as I love fishing on boats it always seems to make me sick. Just wanted to know if any one has tried the ET sea sick pills as Im off to the montes in a couple of weeks. I have tried the usual kwells ect which work for little while before i end up in a hole!. I would appriciate any help or feed back you can give me - thanks alot and tight lines.

Mon, 2010-06-28 19:50

Have heard one lately about putting one earplug in. If you are right handed put it in your left ear and vice versa.

Would love to help more but Ive never been seasick.

Montes are an awesome place. I suggest you get everything in order. Hate to miss anything by being crook.

Try Travelcalm Tabs

Mon, 2010-06-28 20:21

Wife loves fishing but used to get seasick in the bath tub.

Had a chat to the chemist & they said try travelcalm, have since battled to get her outta the boat = she always catch`s the bigger fish & no probs for her in a 3mtr swell now.

Would give them a try as quells didnt work with wife but travelcalm does, get the original with caffine as they dont dry you out or send ya to sleep.

Travacalms are the go

Mon, 2010-06-28 20:34

Take 2 the night before as you go to bed then play around with how many you take in the morning. One mate of mine takes none in the morning the other takes a whole one but is trying just a half lately which seams to be ok now.I find if im a bit clogged up i take a sudafed which helps with balance on the bad days.Generally if im sick on the boat it is if i have been sick before leaving or im crook the day after as well so not really sure how bad i will be if i get really seasick.Laughing

travacalm original. my wife

Mon, 2010-06-28 22:18

travacalm original. my wife takes 2 with some toast about half hour before we hit the water and rarely does she feel off color, also try nibbling on chips or in a biscuit things as long as they are dry and take regular drinks. she is a chronic sufferer and will swear by them. tried the kwels and even the travacalm ginger and all the other remedies but none work . definately the originals in the blue and white pack , cost is around $0 or $10 depends where you buy them

Real ginger beer is a great

Tue, 2010-06-29 06:48

Real ginger beer is a great help too.  I brew my own (non alcoholic).

If you are getting close to being sick, jump in the water for a swim.

Have a top time at the Montes.

Cheers Pete

Avomine is the only thing

Tue, 2010-06-29 12:27

Avomine is the only thing for me. And I'm a burley machine of note!
Tried all the others, none works even close to Avomine, but if you take two or more in less than 3 hrs you get mighty sleepy ( on crap side effect).

here is MSDS for it: http://www.racgp.org.au/cmi/swcavomi.pdf

quote: "
What Avomine is used for

Avomine belongs to a group of
medicines called phenothiazines.
Avomine is used to prevent or treat
motion sickness.
Avomine is also used to prevent or
treat nausea (feeling sick) and
vomiting associated with other
causes including:
• other medicines
• radiation treatment
• migraine (severe headache)
• infectious diseases
• problems with balance
.... Each tablet contains 25 mg of
promethazine theoclate (the active
ingredient)"

for a long trip

Tue, 2010-06-29 08:19

Get some Transderm Scop pads over the net. New Zwealand has them. For some reason Australia has not got these marvels. You place the pad behind your ear and it protects you for 3 days. Dont get the stuff on the patch on your finger and rub your eyes, as you will see 2 fish everytime you catch one.

This is by far the best remedy for Motion sickness invented. It contains scopolamine.

Here is a link and I have some ready for any long trip, because sea sickness can ruin a planned fishing holiday +++++.

http://www.transdermscop.com/

I Highly recommend them in my occupation.

Pretty sure

Pretty sure scopalamine-based products were banned here, same as Canada and the USA. Might want to look into that before recommending it to anyone.

The other name is Hyoscine

Tue, 2010-06-29 10:19

And you can get that here as a motion sickness tablet in another version (Kwells and Travacalm HO = Hyoscine hydrobromide), or as anti-stomach cramp tablets (Buscopam =Hyoscine Butylbromide).

LOL

Tue, 2010-06-29 16:46

allegedly used by the NAZIs in WW11 at high doses, makes you very euphoric and you will tell tall tales, aswell as the truth if you have a cattle prod up somewhere etc. LOL.

Doses used for uses other than this is lower doses.

But it did have the nickname as the "Truth drug" or "Truth serum"

Could make fishing tales a lot taller.

I get sea sick

Tue, 2010-06-29 17:01

I found the best are Kwells and 3 ginger tablets (blackmores 400mg get from Chemist) toast and take the above, you must take them 30minutes before you hit the water.  I know when they have kicked in I dry reach, then I know the pills are working.  The ginger tablets after 3hrs on the boat you take 2 more, very very good.  I don't get sick, anymore, I swear by the above.  I suffer from motion sickness, car, boat or plane, these two mentioned are fantastic for me, I don't get drowsy, like on travelcalm.
