Dampier

Just wondering about the access ability of the creek system south of dampier......I've got a 474 stacer......does it need to be high tide for the boat ramp and to get in there or is it deep enough to get in there all the time?......also can I launch straight into the creek somewhere?
Cheers

I have been in there a few
I have been in there a few times (5 yrs ago) and there was sufficient channels at low tide to navigate ok. Some deep holes in there where yachts etc moor up during cyclones

Heaps of jacks
Threadies but not large, big yellowfin bream, small trevs, bull sharks
The jacks are really worth targetting but it is critical that you get your bait / lure as close and I mean close as possible to the very edge of the mangroves and then lock everything up as they hit like runaway trains and if you dont stop em within a foot or so then they are long gone
My favourite windy weather spot but it does get a bit wet getting over there ..................plenty of water even at low tide so no issues with naving if you are careful and watch the sounder

Also at the Pond Zero intake
Climb over the wall and everything would be huge!!!!!!!
Only joking as this is illegal. But where the intake is its great fun sportsfishing for rat GTs, Queenies etc. Just cast towards the intake with a lure, slice, fly etc and have fun. Heaps of 1-4kg GTs etc, but got brave one day, and had the clouser destroyed on the 8wt fly rod but a more substantial GT, and bang went the wand.
Lures and SPs are the go IMO for Jacks. Live bait sensational but dont totally outclass the lures, and I would rather fish than collect bait.
Should be good for mudcrabs but have not realy tried hard. I have/had a 5.4m boat (now in Mandurah) and had no tidal issues there, but obviously watch the markers. It is the protected area for yachts etc in cyclones.
Good luck.

Should be a couple barra lingering around too. Take a couple mudcrab nets as well.
