Bunbury Salmon
Submitted by madm on Mon, 2016-04-25 09:11
Hi all
Had a old fella ask me about catching salmon, seems he has never caught one.
I hung up my rods a couple of years ago so well out of touch but figured I could take this bloke out and try to help him catch a couple -
does anybody know if there are still some salmon around Bunbury or are they further South, or even East by now?
Any info would be appreciated
Thanks

Cove between the groynes
Try the cove (sandy bit) between the groynes near Causarina Harbour. A bit sand to walk through but less than going along the beach.
A couple of days ago I saw some being caght there along with some very large herring - herring not salmon trout. One bloke complained that they were too big for salmon baits.

Old Cut
The Old Cut, first light in the morning, either side though the north was usually the most productive if you have a 4x4
Same time applies for the northern tip of the reef at Hungry Hollow

Thanks guys, appreciate the time you took to reply - not sure what effect todays weather will have but might have to get out later this week and see if I can make an old man happy!
Thanks again
