Broome Jetty Fishing

Hi All, heading to Broome mid September and will have a free day so I would like to try some fishing at the main Jetty.

Can anyone give me an idea of what fish there are to chase and what lures / reels / rods I should be bringing.

Any advice or tips on any of the fishy related things to do in Broome would be great!

I imagine the seafood available there would be pretty good, anyone know of any 'must go' places?

Hey mate

Up I'n Broome ATM. Fishing at the jetty is pretty hit and miss. Your best bet jato buy a 200lb hand line up here at tackle world for $20. Fishing with braid you will snap your line as soon as you hook up. You are about 7 metres above the water. So if you do catch something you need to be able to pull it up. If you can get on a charter Money well spent.

What a freaking awesome report! Patty, I'll flick you a PM - would love to get a bit of advice from you.

What class line would you say is best from the jetty?

Lightest lb we used off the jetty was 30lb mate, i think that is a little light though. At the end of the trip we were both using 50lb for the queenies and were using 50lb or 80lb for the bait. There are some unstoppables at that jetty so your gonna get smashed sometimes no matter what. All you need to do is get a cliff gaff from the tackle shop if you wanna get the fish up. Man... im jealous! seriously good fishing. Neap tides are better of course for the queenies. Hit me a PM if you want some more info
