not a bad way to start the account harpuka greyband double

not a bad way to start the account harpuka greyband double

my first grey band and harpuka on a double header

3 rd trip out deep only to have roaring currents again Yell but luckly Glen the skipper had his trusty old reef queen and some home made 3kg sinkers on board . so after a quick atempt at jigging in a 2.7 knot drift in 300m lol we put the rods away and droped down the big lead and still couldnt hold bottom so 2 sinkers were attached thats 6kgs of lead on the way over the side 5 mins to the bottom then bang theres one and  ooh that just got really heavy then the fun part the 30 mins of winding to get it to the top  needless to say i was stoked 18 kg grey band and 14 kg harpuka

on the way back in we thought we may aswell see if the red snapper where home so a quick drop in the shallows 190m and there was my first red at around 3 kgs so it was a great day with three first for me

so i must say a huge thanks to glen for the day out Smile

Far out that must take some winding for fish that big from that depth, fair effort!

Bloody hell, 6 kg of lead and two big fish in 300 m, that's some heavy duty lifting.
