Awesome pic

My Sister just emailed me this pic not sure who took it. Was taken on Australia Day during the fireworks display – this one deserves an award. Fireworks, Lightning, Sunset, a Comet, and the greatest of Aussie icons, the Beach all in one image.
In addition to the obvious features in the photo, look between the two displays of lighting up the sky to see the third – McNaught’s Comet.
The photo was taken just north of Hillary’s Marina, which you can see the harbour wall on the left with fireworks being launched.

Comet is hard to see in this
Comet is hard to see in this (looks great full screen) Comet is in the patch of sky just to the right of main fireworks coming down from the cloud - can just make it out in this view.
Was anyone there??

Photoshopped
Theres a lot of contraversy about this photo, the McNaught's comet was out of view by January 26th in Perth. It is quite possibly photoshopped, even thou the lightening and fireworks is pretty damn impressive anyway.

Unless it was taken as a
Unless it was taken as a still from video it is very hard to get lightning good shots let alone in time with the fireworks.
appears to be done with a still camera judging by some blur on persons due to movement.
Here in Adelaide the comet was in the west. I'm unsure of this location but the sun is setting more to the left (assuming this is west) of screen so would this mean the "comet" should possibly be more to the left and as such blocked by the light (setting sun) and fireworks....
Was anyone there (did you guys have lightning on Aussie day)
I'm starting to think maybe the pic is a combination on 2-3 pics.
Unsure if there should be more reflection on the water from the lightning as well (closer to the lightning)
Oh well.....never trust the internet

Lightening
Yep, we had some crazy lightening storms, 40 degrees and thunderstorms and howling easterlies. I originally thought the photo was real until someone said that the comet was out of view that night. Where I was located the cloud cover made it impossible to see it, mind you, that was atleast 20kms away.

Yeah the comet looks like
Yeah the comet looks like it's in the right spot Paul. When I looked at it from a friends house in city beach it was just left of where the sun was setting and this looks pretty spot on.
