Just what in the hell is driving masses of people to go stark raving mad and fighting each other to get hold of toilet paper. Coronavirus does not cause a bad case of anal diarrhoea, only a bad case of verbal diarrhoea from those who don't read just what the virus does to you.
I thought that I had seen every type of stupid illogical human behaviour that there is, clearly I was wrong.
My missus works at woollies and the stories she comes home with as to what she has seen in the store and of people cuing up at 7am with trollies waiting to get to the toilet rolls in store is quite unbelievable.
Has the world gone totally mad. The only time I have seen panic buying ever so slightly approaching this was when it was whispered that there might be a shortage of mulies
No one thinks for them selves anymore, so if they see it on social media it must be the right thing to do. Half these people stocking up are solely stocking up because they see others doing it. Sheep theory. Its incredibly selfish i say. Poor elderly on pension or less fortunate that only get to shops once a week when pension/benefits paid then nothing left to buy while the fortunate people have a spare room full of toilet paper flour nappies pasta for no reason. Times like these shows how shit people can really be.
Iv just returned from Japan and the hysteria is real. It's not really any worse than the normal flu that takes out thousands of oldies and some infants every year. The government shouldn't allow it. I thought I may have been probed/tested before I departed Tokyo but not a thing. Then when I landed I was in a Uber within about 20 min. All they did was ask if I had been to China, Iran, Italy and a couple more. I was expecting self quarantine but just told to keep 1.5m distance from people and not go to work if I had symptoms or worked around the elderly. Would have been different if I had been to the country's they asked about sure. Smart traveller has japan listed as use caution due to the cruise liner situation and that Chinese go there for the snow - like I did. And for me timing was perfect as we basically had the hill to ourself , you beauty haha.
Makes you sound like Donald trump, and no rational person wants that. You are in denial. Overall fatality rate from a bad flu , in first world countries, is around .01%. So far fatality rates from the CV is anywhere from 1% to 2.5%, or even up to 3.5%, depending on the area quoted. So, at least 100 times higher, at the lowest quoted rate. One real, and so far unexplained, divergence, is that while flu tends to kill the very old/pre-existing conditions and very young, so far the very young have proven to be very resistant to CV. The fatality rate, at least in countries you can get the data out of, shoots up as you get older. So that overall rate is very different to flu. Rates of up to 30% fatality for over seventies should get your attention, even if you are well outside that demographics. And no, I don't get my information --ANY information-from FB.
So if you ( and I am addressing everyone on here, not just the last poster) are overall healthy, no older than early middle-aged, no pre-existing conditions , you are probably fine. Now, everyone take a look at yourself. Carrying the usual , sad, amount of overweight that the average Aussie has convinced himself is fine, because, well, everyone else is too? Reckon you could run 100 metres flatout without collapsing? Still enjoy the odd durrie, or have a history of working at a job that means a fair amount of dust of different types, at different times? Your chance of fatality , if you contract it, is probably well over 1% . Like those odds?
This is the first, and only time, I've made any public comment on this, and it will be the last. We have stocked up on nothing, and take no more precautions other than more regular handwashing. BTW, I am 67, my wife is 65, so we are in the demographic where the proven fatality rate starts to shoot up. We are both in good shape, and wish to remain that way. The only change we can personally see is that overseas travel should be out of the picture for the immediate future. Travel within Australia is my work, and I will make no change in that respect.
I guess my doctor and my entire medical centre are wrong? As I said its dangerous for the elderly , so is it really a great deal different to most flus each winter? no, just stronger and left to spread. Its a flu...
IMO media sensationalism, my opinion not obviosly shared by you, No worries!
I have found a solution to the possible toilet roll shortage, I've run an extension from my back hose in through the toilet window and connected a spray nozzle with trigger on/off head.
Problem solved with a poor mans bidet.
Not only shite paper missing from the shelves, misssus went shopping yesterday no pasta, no oats among other things. We don't need a stimulus pacakage the media hyped everything up and has done it for the governement instead.
Outside Miami shopping centre this morning not a shopping trolley in sight, this is at 7am inside centre at least 50 shoppers waiting for Coles to open 8.15am not a toilet roll, packet of serviettes or paper hand towels on the shelfs.
Just listed on eBay survival kit 1 small bottle hand sanitizer 1 roll of toilet paper and Cadbury caramel chocolate has 4 bids on it up to $14. Gee some people ?
Night ( meant to be else where today) cost few gran accomodation ect . Can’t afford my missus to get sick.( auto immune issues) Booked over a year ago. Bugger .
as long as the above is still there....not fussed on the rest........two sheets a go should last.....hose job if there are skids.
Anything tissues seems to be a collectors item these days......The 2 ply stuff is terrible and if not careful a finger can stray where you dont want it to go...Smelly poo finger is very hard to irradicate......so if you are looking to toilet paper as an investment....i would go the heavier ply variety.......You might well get Capital gain on that stuff !....although it wont be long before the government apply STAMP duty on people making profit from upselling toilet roll ! you heard it here first folks......hahahahaahha
No grand prix, no football, no basket ball, no crab fest, no groups of more than 500 people what about shopping malls,
what a boring weekend coming up.
My guess is a shopping centre would be perfect breeding ground for corona, touching trolleys shelves produce perfect temperature everyone bumping into eachother cash touchpad on eftpos machines. Simple solution woulda just been stop planes coming in for a few weeks and we'd all be happy days. Instead they throw cash at people and tell them to go out and spend

Fishermen know how to adapt?
fish skin? ,,,,,,,,,,, probaly avoid the leather jackets and go for something like a scaled pinkie at this stage.
And you can always launch and have some private time off the rear ladder , I heard it keeps the pingers away as a bonus.

Yeah don't get me wrong
I'm no doctor (Air con doctor maybe haha)
The medics say it dies out in above 30c heat so atm here, we should be pretty safe.
For me - Japan 120-130 million people and at my time of departure 360 cases...
Not wishing it on anyone obviously.
