Where to fish in Swan River?
Submitted by Jase123 on Wed, 2011-11-23 15:21
Have seen lots of reports of big flatties and plenty of tailor coming from the river recently.
Any suggestions on where to go, as I now have finished school for the year =)
Keen to get into a few fish over summer!
Cheers, Jase

claremont jetty for
claremont jetty for flathead
applecross/bicton area for tailor theyre pretty much everywhere
dusk is best time for flathead although you can snag them during the day
run a diving lure through the bottom at a steady pace and see what happens.
a brown Halco RMG or Ecogear Sx40 should do the trick!

You will get Tailor anywhere
You will get Tailor anywhere from Burswood to Fremantle. Try throwing around a 10g chrome Twisty. An hour before to an hour after dusk is usually the best time for Tailor but early morning is pretty good as well. Flatties are through much the same area at the moment but from Pt Walter/Claremont Jetty downstream to the Traffic Bridge is your best bet. I prefer early mornings myself to evening but I don't mind getting up at 3am to be casting at first light. I find a blue/chrome Laser Pro 45 to be pretty reliable on Flatties but take a range of hardbodys with you just in case they are being fussy on the day. I picked up a 50+cm Flattie last week in the middle of the day casting from Claremont Jetty. I'll be down Point Walter at first light on Saturday morning for a cast.

Generally they are ok from
Generally they are ok from the Swan but I won't eat anything that comes out of the river north of the Narrows. Below that they are ok though. I just wish we had the big Duskys from over NSW. I used to love getting out around Port Hacking & Simpsons Bay chasing them.

Swan River Tailor
Thought i'd jump on this Thread as its already started. I have been fishing in pretty full on in WA for the last few months and have caught plenty of teh bread and butter species but hav eyet to land my first Tailor! Planning on heading either to the narrows or Point Walter tomorrow evening to continue the quest. Are people having more sucess for Tailor on lures or bait? Any pointers either public or private mail will be much appreciatted! I will put up a report over the weekend on how I go.
PS Not looking of a hand out on peoples secret locations I have put in plenty of hours to try break my tailor duck mostly formmetro beaches and the odd trip both north and south.
I'd rather be fishing!
