I have been trying to catch a few bream land based while the ban has been on but have had zero luck. Can anyone tell me of any decent areas and what I should be looking for? Any help would be appreciated

Cheers

I just can't use plastics

I just can't use plastics without them getting raped by the blowies.

I tried some zmans and the grubs were lasting about 2 casts!

2.5" zman grubs

Mon, 2012-12-03 16:42

Anyone got some tips on techniques to use with the zman grubs for bream? Have caught decent numbers of bream on bait lately so i know theres plenty around where i am fishing but switching to the soft plastics the closest ive come is having a few follow it. cant get them to strike!

slow lifts? quick jerks? I've been using the motor oil colour with 1/16th jig heads and 8lb flourocarbon leader.

you've got the right

you've got the right weight/leader/colour, so you can either do a very slow roll along the bottom (works fine) or a sink, then lift the rod quickly, get the placcy about 70cm or so off the bottom then let it sink down and hit the bottom. Your line will lose tension when it hits the bottom, and most of the time you'll hook the bream accidentally when lifting the placcy off the bottom. just anywhere in the canning atm seems to be working fine

Best I've found is bloody hard bodies , blowies suck round there,I can't get them to last for 2 or 3 casts  I hate the bastards !!! But all good fun.

The best ever plastic for the

Mon, 2012-12-03 19:40

The best ever plastic for the swan river would be the watermelon eyeball tail.  But the dont make it anymore.  Ive been modifying madeye whippy worms to get as close to them as possible.  Then there is the green maria craw.  But they dont make them anymore either.  Lucky I have 2 packs left.  So amber, muscadine or watermelon snapbacks would be my favorite.  Havent embraced the Z-man grubs yet.  Lots of people are getting good results though.

no better than z man atm

Tue, 2012-12-04 13:18

no better than z man atm especially in blood worm goes of try canning bridge cracked 15 in one session 2 weeks ago biggest went 37cm plus some good flattys there atm.

Also with the blowies youll learn what there bite feels like i find if you get a bite from a blowie wind in and start again.

I have used one z man there all day and cracked heaps of fish before it got chewed and tbh with you i was a real novice before that with 5 total on plastics before that under my belt now im cracking a bream a cast on them in some places.

And also i have mates who have a completely different action to me and they still do just as good but i find its all about the pause thats when i mainly get hit.

My action is flick flick wind up the slack pause flick flick wind up the slack pause seems to work awesome for me.

But i found every colour works even hot pink nailed a few bream on that and chartrusse (bright yellow).

Good luck mate let us know how you go

Brad y is on the money the old eyeball tails were the best, now i throw alot of power minnows in pearl watermelon around the belmont area and they easily fish z-grubz 1 for one , but its like everything if 95% of people are using the same product then it will catch more fish that the other 5% of people using different items there for apearing like it is a dominating product

Grubs have always been good

Grubs have always been good but its good to go against the grain sometimes, try some of the creature style plastics and slow it right down .
