hey all
heading to shark bay for new years gonna take my chances with the winds, have done alot of reading on here and decided we will spend a few days out the end of the peron point walking from skipjack point to peron point flicking plastics along the sand flat - would it be worth taking poppers for GT's are there many about out the end? and have many people had luck with mackies drifting baloons out? also are there many reefies/lemon sharks out there to have some fun with?
we were keen to do a day trip to steep point go and have a look around, never been there before - is it ok for people who arent campin there to flick some lures around the end? or is it a bit tight out there?
cheers in advance

Have been through there once by sea and vowed to come back and explore. Lovely little bay that sheltered from anything from the south, patches of reef near shore, deep channels and nice clean beaches.
Not sure on GTs but wouldn't surprise me if they are there.

hey fished out there a couple
hey fished out there a couple of times over new years just gone. ya get alot of golden trevally cruising up and down the beach real close to the shore so keep an eye out. got a couple on halco twisties. there were some guys catching some decent blue mackeral off the point aswell, casting mulies out were the two currents were meeting making lots of white water. dont worry bout the wind, heaps of spots to fish.

Great spot, plenty of sharks to tangle with, especially on the tip but it looks like you could catch anything there, not sure if many spaniards come in.
As for steep it depends on the numbers of people there, if it's full then no chance but you can go over and fish the back cliffs no worries plenty to explore there

Cliffs
I should add those back cliffs are minimum 20m off the water so fish heavy but no matter how busy the point is you can always chuck a line in.
At steep point proper if It's busy have a chat Fishers and they might let you squeeze in for a few hours and may even unload some fillets to ya of they are doing well. On the way out to the point you drive past some pretty good shallow water ground
